In Jerusalem also, Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites, priests and heads of Israelite families to administer the law of the Lord and to settle disputes. And they lived in Jerusalem.

In Jerusalem, Jehoshaphat chose some Levites and priests. He also chose some leaders of Israelite families. He appointed all of them to apply the law of the Lord fairly. He wanted them to decide cases. He wanted them to settle matters between people. All those judges lived in Jerusalem.

Moreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed certain Levites and priests and heads of families of Israel, to give judgment for the Lord and to decide disputed cases. They had their seat at Jerusalem.

In Jerusalem, Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites and priests and clan leaders in Israel to serve as judges for cases involving the Lord’s regulations and for civil disputes.

Jehoshaphat also appointed in Jerusalem some of the Levites and priests and some of the Israelite family heads for deciding the LORD’s will and for settling disputes of the residents of Jerusalem.

跟他們一同去的有利未人示瑪雅、尼探雅、西巴第雅、亞撒黑、示米拉末、約拿單、亞多尼雅、多比雅、駝‧巴多尼雅；跟他們一同的又有以利沙瑪和約蘭二位祭司。他們在猶大教導，帶着耶和華的律法書，走遍猶大各城教導百姓。

現在，聽我的話，我給你出個主意，願上帝與你同在。你要代替百姓到上帝面前，將事件帶到上帝那裏，又要用律例和法度警戒他們，指示他們當行的道，當做的事。你也要從百姓中選出有才能的人，敬畏上帝、誠實可靠、恨惡不義之財的人，派他們作千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長來管理百姓。他們要隨時審判百姓；重大的事要送到你這裏，小事就由他們自行判決。這樣，你就可以輕省一些，他們可以與你分擔。你若這樣做，上帝也這樣吩咐你，你就能承受得住，眾百姓也可以和睦地回到自己的地方。」摩西聽了他岳父的話，照着他所說的一切去做。摩西從以色列人中選出有才能的人，立他們為百姓的領袖，作千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長、十夫長。他們隨時審判百姓：難斷的事就送到摩西那裏，各樣小事就由他們自行判決。

利未人祭司要近前來，因為耶和華－你的上帝揀選他們來事奉他，奉耶和華的名祝福，並且有任何的爭訟和毆打，都由他們的口判決。

「你城中若有難以判斷的案件，涉及流血，訴訟，或毆打等爭訟的事，你就要起來，上到那裏，耶和華－你上帝所選擇的地方，去見利未家的祭司和當時的審判官，求問他們，他們必將判決指示你。他們在耶和華所選擇的地方指示你的判決，你要執行，謹守遵行他們一切所教導你的。要按照所教導你的律法、所告訴你的典章去執行；他們指示你的判決，你不可偏離左右。若有人擅自行事，不聽從那侍立在耶和華－你上帝那裏事奉的祭司，或不聽從審判官，那人就要處死。這樣，你就把惡從以色列中除掉。眾百姓聽見了都要害怕，不再擅自行事了。」

其中有二萬四千人管理耶和華殿的事務，有六千人作官長和審判官，

「人與人若有爭訟，要求審判，當宣判義人為義，惡人有罪的時候，

以斯哈人有基拿尼雅和他眾兒子作官長和審判官，管理以色列對外的事務。
