He followed the ways of his father Asa and did not stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.

Jehoshaphat followed the ways of his father Asa. He didn’t wander away from them. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.

He walked in the way of Asa his father and did not turn aside from it, doing what was right in the sight of the Lord.

Jehoshaphat was a good king, following the ways of his father, Asa. He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight.

He walked in the ways of Asa his father; he did not turn away from it but did what was right in the LORD’s sight.

He walked in the way of his father Asa and did not deviate from it, doing right in the sight of the Lord.

And he walked in the way of his father Asa, and did not turn aside from it, doing what was right in the sight of the Lord.

他們滿口惡言謊話，毫無智慧和善行。

耶和華與約沙法同在，因為他效法他祖先大衛起初所行的，沒有尋求巴力，只尋求他父親的上帝，遵行祂的誡命，沒有效法以色列人的行為。因此，耶和華鞏固他的王位，所有的猶大人都向他進貢，他極有財富和尊榮。他專心遵行耶和華的道，剷除猶大境內的邱壇和亞舍拉神像。

亞撒效法他祖先大衛，做耶和華視為正的事。

亞撒呼求他的上帝耶和華說：「耶和華啊，唯有你才能幫助弱小的勝過強大的。我們的上帝耶和華啊，求你幫助我們，因為我們依靠你，奉你的名迎戰這大軍。耶和華啊，你是我們的上帝，不要讓人勝過你。」於是，耶和華使古實人敗在亞撒和猶大人面前，古實人潰逃。亞撒率領軍隊乘勝追擊，直追到基拉耳。古實人在耶和華和祂的軍兵面前大敗，傷亡慘重，一蹶不振。猶大人擄走了許多財物，

因為我堅守祂的道，沒有作惡背棄我的上帝。

那時，哈拿尼先見晉見猶大王亞撒說：「因為你不倚靠你的上帝耶和華，反而倚靠亞蘭王，所以亞蘭王的軍隊已經從你手中逃脫。古實人與路比人不是一支強大的軍隊嗎？他們的戰車騎兵不是極多嗎？然而，因為你倚靠耶和華，耶和華就把他們交在你手中。耶和華的眼目遍察天下，彰顯大能來扶助那些全心歸向祂的人。你做了愚蠢的事！從此以後，你必遭遇戰禍。」亞撒聽了就對先見發怒，把他囚禁在監獄裡，同時又壓迫一些民眾。亞撒其他的事自始至終都記在猶大和以色列的列王史上。亞撒執政第三十九年患了嚴重的腳病。然而，他在病中卻沒有尋求耶和華的幫助，只尋求醫生的幫助。

亞撒做他的上帝耶和華看為好、視為正的事，拆除外族神明的邱壇和神廟，打碎神柱，砍倒亞舍拉神像，命令猶大人尋求他們祖先的上帝耶和華，遵行祂的律法和誡命。他除掉猶大各城邑的邱壇和香壇，那時國中太平。
