O our God, did you not drive out those who lived in this land when your people Israel arrived? And did you not give this land forever to the descendants of your friend Abraham?

我上帝歟、斯土居民、爾非逐於爾民以色列前、以此地錫予爾友亞伯拉罕之裔、至於永久乎、

昔有人居斯土、上帝啟以色列族而驅之、亞伯拉罕為上帝所眷顧、遂以斯土錫其苗裔、俾為恆業。

我之天主歟、在昔將原居斯土之諸族、逐於主之民以色列人前、以斯土賜於敬愛主敬愛主或作主之友亞伯拉罕之苗裔、使為恆業、

Our God, did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend?

Our God, you drove out the people who lived in this land. You drove them out to make room for your people Israel. You gave this land forever to those who belong to the family line of your friend Abraham.

Did you not, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend?

Are you not our God who drove out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and who gave it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend?

Did You not, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land from Your people Israel, and give it to the descendants of Your friend Abraham forever?

Didst not thou, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and give it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?

[ Art] not thou our God,[ who] didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?

Our God, you drove out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and gave it as a permanent possession to the descendants of your friend Abraham.

Didn’t you, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it to the offspring of Abraham your friend forever?

“ But as for you, Israel my servant, Jacob my chosen one, descended from Abraham my friend,

You drove out the pagan nations by your power and gave all the land to our ancestors. You crushed their enemies and set our ancestors free.

And so it happened just as the Scriptures say:“ Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.

I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession.

When he had proved himself faithful, you made a covenant with him to give him and his descendants the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites, and Girgashites. And you have done what you promised, for you are always true to your word.

But I took your ancestor Abraham from the land beyond the Euphrates and led him into the land of Canaan. I gave him many descendants through his son Isaac.

Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said,“ I will give this land to your descendants.” And Abram built an altar there and dedicated it to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

And I will send an angel before you to drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.

I will claim you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God who has freed you from your oppression in Egypt.

Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me.And you will be my kingdom of priests, my holy nation.’ This is the message you must give to the people of Israel.”So Moses returned from the mountain and called together the elders of the people and told them everything the Lord had commanded him.

I gave you land you had not worked on, and I gave you towns you did not build— the towns where you are now living. I gave you vineyards and olive groves for food, though you did not plant them.

Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God,“ O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O Lord, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!”

“ I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you.

“ I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery.

What other nation on earth is like your people Israel? What other nation, O God, have you redeemed from slavery to be your own people? You made a great name for yourself when you redeemed your people from Egypt. You performed awesome miracles and drove out the nations that stood in their way.You chose Israel to be your very own people forever, and you, O Lord, became their God.“ And now, O Lord, I am your servant; do as you have promised concerning me and my family. May it be a promise that will last forever.And may your name be established and honored forever so that everyone will say,‘ The Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, is Israel’s God!’ And may the house of your servant David continue before you forever.

Then he said,“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but now I will go and wake him up.”

I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.
