但永恆主卻因他和大衛所立的約的緣故仍不情願滅絕大衛的家，乃是照他所說過的、要使他和他子孫日日不斷地有燈光。

雖然、主緣昔與大衛立約、仍不欲翦滅大衛家、循主所許大衛者、欲永賜光光或作明燈於大衛、爰及子孫、

Nevertheless, because of the covenant the Lord had made with David, the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants forever.

But the Lord didn’t want to destroy the royal family of David. That’s because the Lord had made a covenant with him. The Lord had promised to keep the lamp of David’s kingdom burning brightly. The Lord had promised that for David and his children after him forever.

Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever.

But the Lord did not want to destroy David’s dynasty, for he had made a covenant with David and promised that his descendants would continue to rule, shining like a lamp forever.

but for the sake of the covenant the LORD had made with David, he was unwilling to destroy the house of David since the LORD had promised to give a lamp to David and to his sons forever.

把一個族派給他兒子，好使我的僕人大衛在耶路撒冷、我所選擇做立我名的城裏、在我面前、日日不斷地有燈光。

你在世的年日滿足、跟你列祖一同長眠了之後，我必立起你以後由你親腹出的苗裔；我必堅立他的國。是他要為我的名建殿，我必堅立他的國位、到永遠。是我要做他的父，是他要做我的兒子；他若有了罪孽，我必用人的刑杖用人類的鞭責打他。但我仍不使我堅固的愛離開他、像我使我的堅愛離開掃羅一樣：掃羅是我使他離開你面前的那位。你的家你的國在我面前必堅固牢靠到永遠；你的王位必堅立到永遠。」』拿單按這一切話、照這全部異象、就這樣告訴了大衛。

但我不將全國都撕裂開；我乃是要因我僕人大衛的緣故、和我所選擇的耶路撒冷的緣故、還留一個族派給你兒子。』

在他僕人大衛家中為我們興起了拯救的角，

照亮那坐在黑暗中死陰影裏的人，引導我們的腳進平安的路。』

『我們來上去攻擊猶大，使它恐怖，攻破它來歸我們，在那中間立他比勒的兒子為王』，因此主永恆主這麼說：這計謀必立不住，也不能實現；

我的堅愛、我必為他保持到永遠；我的約對於他、是確定的。我必使他的後裔永久存在，使他的王位如天之壽命。倘若他子孫撇棄了我的律法，不照我的典章而行；倘若他們瀆犯了我的律例，不遵守我的誡命，我就用刑杖察罰他們的過犯，用鞭子責罰他們的罪孽；但我的堅愛、我必不向他除掉，我必不使我的可信可靠變成了詐偽。我必不瀆犯我的約，我嘴裏所說出的、我必不更改。

在那裏我必給大衛生起一個角來；我已為我所膏立的安排了燈光。我必使他的仇敵披上羞辱；但他的冠冕必在他頭上發光。』

『永恆主這麼說：你們若能廢棄我跟白日立的約、和我跟黑夜立的約，使白日黑夜不按照其時刻而輪轉，那麼我與我僕人大衛立的約也就能廢棄，使他沒有兒子在他的王位上做王，而我與伺候我的祭司利未人立的約也就能廢棄、使他們沒有人服事我。天上的萬象怎樣不能數算，海邊的沙怎樣不能斗量；我也必怎樣使我僕人大衛的後裔和伺候我的利未人增多繁殖。』永恆主的話傳與耶利米說：『這人民講些甚麼話你沒有看明白麼？他們說：「永恆主所揀選的二族、他已經棄絕了」，因此列國的人就藐視我的人民，不再拿他們當列國中的一國看待。但永恆主這麼說：我若沒有跟黑夜白晝立我的約，我若沒有立定天地的定律，那麼我也就能棄絕雅各的後裔、和我僕人大衛的後裔，不從他後裔中選取了人做統治者來管理亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的後裔。因為我一定要恢復他們的故業，一定要憐憫他們。』

你斥棄了與你僕人所立的約，將他的冠冕污辱於地。

我家在上帝面前豈不是這樣立着麼？上帝和我立了永遠的約；凡事安排、妥當穩固；我受的一切救恩和我的一切願望、他豈不使它發旺麼？

但是洗魯雅的兒子亞比篩幫助了大衛，擊打那非利士人，將他殺死。當日跟隨大衛的人向大衛起誓說：『以後你不要再和我們一同出戰了，恐怕你使以色列的燈熄滅了。』

但永恆主卻因他僕人大衛的緣故仍不情願滅絕猶大，乃是照他對大衛所應許過的、要使他和他子孫日日不斷地有燈光。

永恆主真地向大衛起誓過，他必不反覆變卦：他說：『你腹中出的果子、我必使其一位坐你寶座。

但是王的女兒約示巴將亞哈謝的兒子約阿施、從那些將要被殺死的王子中偷出來，把他和他的奶媽都放在貯藏床鋪的內室裏。約蘭王的女兒約示巴、祭司耶何耶大的妻子，因為是亞哈謝的妹子，便得以將約阿施藏起來、以躲避亞他利雅的勢面，亞他利雅就沒有將約阿施殺死。
