Although the Lord sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him, and though they testified against them, they would not listen.

The Lord sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him. The prophets told the people what they were doing wrong. But the people wouldn’t listen.

Attend unto me, O my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall go forth from me, and I will establish my justice for a light of the peoples.

Who is there among you that will give ear to this? that will hearken and hear for the time to come?

For this people’s heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest haply they should perceive with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should turn again, And I should heal them.But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.

to hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I send unto you, even rising up early and sending them, but ye have not hearkened;

Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day, I have sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff: they did worse than their fathers.

Yet Jehovah testified unto Israel, and unto Judah, by every prophet, and every seer, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.Notwithstanding, they would not hear, but hardened their neck, like to the neck of their fathers, who believed not in Jehovah their God.And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified unto them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the nations that were round about them, concerning whom Jehovah had charged them that they should not do like them.

Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their back, and slew thy prophets that testified against them to turn them again unto thee, and they wrought great provocations.

He that hath ears, let him hear.

Incline your ear, and come unto me; hear, and your soul shall live: and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Woe unto you! for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.So ye are witnesses and consent unto the works of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye build their tombs.Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and some of them they shall kill and persecute;that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary: yea, I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation.

Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.

And Jehovah, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling- place:but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Jehovah arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

And he began to speak unto the people this parable: A man planted a vineyard, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country for a long time.And at the season he sent unto the husbandmen a servant, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.And he sent yet another servant: and him also they beat, and handled him shamefully, and sent him away empty.And he sent yet a third: and him also they wounded, and cast him forth.And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; it may be they will reverence him.But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned one with another, saying, This is the heir; let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.And they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do unto them?
