Although the Aramean army had come with only a few men, the Lord delivered into their hands a much larger army. Because Judah had forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors, judgment was executed on Joash.

一个敌人就可以威吓你们一千个人，若五个敌人威吓你们，你们都要逃跑了！以致你们所剩下的，必孤立如同山顶上的旗杆，冈陵上的旗帜。

耶户讨伐亚哈家的罪的时候，遇见了犹大的众领袖和亚哈谢的兄弟的儿子，他们都是侍候亚哈谢的，耶户把他们都杀了。

使刀剑临到你们，报复背约的仇；聚集你们到城里，好使我打发瘟疫在你们中间，把你们交在仇敌的手里。

虽然无人追赶，他们却像面临刀剑，彼此撞跌；你们在仇敌面前，不能站立得住。

你们五个人必追赶一百人，一百人必追赶一万人；你们的仇敌必在你们面前倒在刀下。

即使你们击败了那攻打你们的迦勒底全军，他们中间只剩下一些受重伤的人，他们也必各从自己的帐棚里起来，放火烧毁这城。’”

那时，神的灵临到耶何耶大祭司的儿子撒迦利亚身上，他就站在比众民高的地方，对他们说：“神这样说：‘你们为什么违背耶和华的诫命，使你们不得亨通呢？因为你们离弃了耶和华，所以耶和华也离弃你们。’”

如果不是他们的磐石把他们出卖了，如果不是耶和华把他们交出来，一人怎能追赶一千人，二人怎能使万人逃跑呢？

亚述啊！我怒气的棍子，有祸了。他们手中拿着我忿怒的杖。我要差派他去攻击一个不敬虔的国，吩咐他去攻击我恼怒的子民，掳去掠物，抢夺掳物，把他们践踏，像街上的泥土一样。

所以你必在饥饿、干渴、赤身露体和缺乏之中，去事奉耶和华派来攻击你的仇敌；他必把铁轭放在你的颈项上，直到把你消灭。

古实人和路比人不是有强大的军队吗？战车和马兵不是极多吗？只因你倚靠耶和华，耶和华就把他们交在你手里。耶和华的眼目遍察全地，一心归向他的，他必以大能扶助他们；你作这事太愚昧了。从今以后，你必常有战争。”

他们从远地而来，从天边而来。就是耶和华和他恼怒的工具，要毁灭这全地。

耶和华我的神，我的圣者啊！你不是自古就有的吗？我们不会死的。耶和华啊！你派他们行审判。磐石啊！你立他们施惩罚。

现在你看，他们怎样报复我们；他们要来把我们从你赐给我们承受作产业的地赶出去。我们的神啊，你不惩罚他们吗？因为我们没有力量抵挡这来攻打我们的大军；我们也不知道该作什么；我们的眼睛只有仰望你。”
