這亞哈斯王在急難的時候，越發得罪耶和華。他向那攻擊他的大馬士革的神明獻祭，說：「因為亞蘭王的神明幫助他們，我也要向這些神明獻祭，好讓它們幫助我。」但那些神明卻使他和全以色列敗亡。亞哈斯聚集神殿裏的器皿，把神殿裏的器皿都打碎了，並且封鎖耶和華殿的門，又在耶路撒冷各處的轉角為自己建築祭壇。

竟向天上的主自高，差人將他殿中的器皿拿到你面前，你和大臣、王后、妃嬪用這器皿飲酒。你又讚美那不能看、不能聽、無知無識，用金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石造的神明，沒有將榮耀歸與那手中掌管你氣息，管理你一切行動的神。

約阿施對眾祭司說：「凡獻到耶和華殿分別為聖的銀子，無論是人的贖價，各人生命的贖價，或自願獻給耶和華殿的銀子，

然而，有一件事我要責備你，就是你容忍那自稱是先知的婦人耶洗別教唆我的僕人，引誘他們犯淫亂，吃祭過偶像之物。

那時這不法的人必出現，主耶穌要用口中的氣滅絕他，以自己來臨的光輝摧毀他。

她不知道是我給她五穀、新酒和新的油，又加添她的金銀；他們卻用來供奉巴力。因此，我要在收割的日子收回我的五穀，在當令的季節收回我的新酒，我要奪回她用以遮體的羊毛和麻。

你拿我所賜給你的那些美麗的金銀寶物，為自己製造男性的偶像，與它們行淫；你拿你的錦繡衣裳為它們披上，把我的膏油和香料擺在它們面前；你把我賜給你的食物，就是我賜給你享用的細麵、油和蜂蜜，都擺在它們面前作為馨香的供物。事情就是這樣。這是主耶和華說的。你拿你為我所生的兒女獻給它們吞噬。你的淫亂豈是小事？你竟把我的兒女殺了，使他們經火獻給它們！

以斯帖說：「仇人敵人就是這惡人哈曼！」哈曼在王和王后面前非常驚惶。

我要懲罰她素日給諸巴力燒香的罪；那時她佩戴耳環和珠寶，跟隨她所愛的，卻忘記我。這是耶和華說的。

義人的稱號帶來祝福；惡人的名字必然敗壞。
