以色列王耶羅波安第二十七年，猶大王亞瑪謝的兒子亞撒利雅登基。他登基的時候年十六歲，在耶路撒冷作王五十二年。他母親名叫耶可利雅，是耶路撒冷人。亞撒利雅行耶和華眼中看為正的事，效法他父親亞瑪謝一切所行的。只是丘壇還沒有廢去，百姓仍在丘壇獻祭燒香。耶和華降災於王，使他長了痲瘋，直到死的那日。他住在隔離的行宮裏，他兒子約坦管理王的家，治理這地的百姓。亞撒利雅其餘的事，凡他所做的，不都寫在《猶大列王記》上嗎？亞撒利雅與他祖先同睡，與他祖先同葬在大衛城，他兒子約坦接續他作王。

他的兒子亞瑪謝，他的兒子亞撒利雅，他的兒子約坦；

但這地的百姓殺了所有背叛亞們王的人；這地的百姓立他兒子約西亞接續他作王。

亞撒生約沙法，約沙法生約蘭，約蘭生烏西雅，烏西雅生約坦，約坦生亞哈斯，亞哈斯生希西家，

猶大眾百姓立亞撒利雅接續他父親亞瑪謝作王，那時他年十六歲。
