Jotham waged war against the king of the Ammonites and conquered them. That year the Ammonites paid him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand cors of wheat and ten thousand cors of barley. The Ammonites brought him the same amount also in the second and third years.

Jotham went to war against the king of Ammon. He won the battle over the Ammonites. That year they paid Jotham almost four tons of silver. They paid him 1,800 tons of wheat and 1,500 tons of barley. They also brought him the same amount in the second and third years.

He fought with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed against them. And the Ammonites gave him that year 100 talents of silver, and 10,000 cors of wheat and 10,000 of barley. The Ammonites paid him the same amount in the second and the third years.

Jotham went to war against the Ammonites and conquered them. Over the next three years he received from them an annual tribute of 7,500 pounds of silver, 50,000 bushels of wheat, and 50,000 bushels of barley.

He waged war against the king of the Ammonites. He overpowered the Ammonites, and that year they gave him 7,500 pounds of silver, 60,000 bushels of wheat, and 60,000 bushels of barley. They paid him the same in the second and third years.

He fought with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed over them so that during that year the Ammonites gave him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kors of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The Ammonites also paid him this amount in the second year and in the third.

He launched a military campaign against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them. That year the Ammonites paid him 100 talents of silver, 10,000 kors of wheat, and 10,000 kors of barley. The Ammonites also paid this same amount of annual tribute the next two years.

He also fought with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. The children of Ammon gave him the same year one hundred talents of silver, ten thousand cors of wheat, and ten thousand cors of barley. The children of Ammon also gave that much to him in the second year, and in the third.

過了些日子，亞捫人攻打以色列。亞捫人攻打以色列的時候，基列的長老去請耶弗他從陀伯地回來。他們對耶弗他說：「請你來作我們的指揮官，好讓我們跟亞捫人打仗。」耶弗他對基列的長老說：「你們不是恨我，把我趕出父家嗎？現在你們遭遇急難，為何到我這裏來呢？」基列的長老對耶弗他說：「現在我們回到你這裏，是要請你同我們去跟亞捫人打仗，作基列所有居民的領袖。」耶弗他對基列的長老說：「若你們請我回去跟亞捫人打仗，耶和華把他們交給我，我就作你們的領袖。」基列的長老對耶弗他說：「有耶和華在你我之間作證，我們必定照你的話做。」於是耶弗他與基列的長老同去，百姓就立耶弗他作他們的領袖和指揮官。耶弗他在米斯巴將他一切的事陳述在耶和華面前。耶弗他派使者到亞捫人的王那裏，說：「你與我有甚麼相干，竟來到我這裏攻打我的地呢？」亞捫人的王對耶弗他的使者說：「因為以色列從埃及上來的時候佔據我的地，從亞嫩河到雅博河，直到約旦河。現在你要和平歸還這些地方！」耶弗他又派使者到亞捫人的王那裏，對他說：「耶弗他如此說：以色列並沒有佔據摩押地和亞捫人的地。以色列人從埃及上來，是經過曠野到紅海，來到加低斯。那時，以色列派使者去以東王那裏，說：『求你讓我穿越你的地。』以東王卻不聽。以色列又照樣派使者去摩押王那裏，他也不肯。於是以色列人就住在加低斯。他們又經過曠野，繞過以東地和摩押地，到摩押地的東邊，在亞嫩河邊安營，並沒有進入摩押的境內，因為亞嫩河是摩押的邊界。以色列派使者去亞摩利王，就是希實本王西宏那裏；以色列對他說：『求你讓我們穿越你的地，到我自己的地方去。』西宏卻不信任以色列，不讓他們穿越他的疆界。他召集了他的眾百姓在雅雜安營，與以色列爭戰。耶和華－以色列的上帝將西宏和他的眾百姓都交在以色列手中，以色列人就擊殺他們，佔領了那地居民亞摩利人的全地。他們佔領了亞摩利人所有的疆土，從亞嫩河到雅博河，從曠野直到約旦河。耶和華－以色列的上帝如今從他百姓以色列面前趕出亞摩利人，你竟要佔領它嗎？你不是已經得了你的神明基抹賜給你的地為業嗎？耶和華－我們的上帝在我們面前所趕出的，我們也要得它為業。現在你比西撥的兒子摩押王巴勒還強嗎？他真的曾與以色列爭執，或是真的與他們爭戰了嗎？以色列人住希實本和所屬的鄉鎮，亞羅珥和所屬的鄉鎮，以及沿着亞嫩河的一切城鎮，已經有三百年了。在這期間，你們為甚麼不取回呢？我並沒有得罪你，你卻要攻打我，加害於我。願審判人的耶和華今日在以色列人和亞捫人之間判斷是非。」但亞捫人的王不聽耶弗他傳達給他的話。耶和華的靈降在耶弗他身上，他就經過基列和瑪拿西，經過基列的米斯巴，又從基列的米斯巴過到亞捫人那裏。耶弗他向耶和華許願，說：「你若真的將亞捫人交在我手中，我從亞捫人那裏平平安安回來的時候，無論誰先從我家門出來迎接我，就要歸給耶和華，我必將他獻上作為燔祭。」於是耶弗他往亞捫人那裏去，與他們爭戰。耶和華將他們交在他手中，他就徹底擊敗他們，從亞羅珥到米匿，直到亞備勒‧基拉明，攻取了二十座城。這樣，亞捫人就在以色列人面前被制伏了。

此後，亞捫人的王死了，他兒子哈嫩接續他作王。大衛說：「哈嫩的父親拿轄怎樣向我施恩，我也要怎樣向哈嫩施恩。」於是大衛派臣僕為他的父親安慰他。當大衛的臣僕到了亞捫人的境內，亞捫人的領袖對他們的主哈嫩說：「大衛派人來安慰你，你看他是要尊敬你父親嗎？大衛派臣僕到你這裏，不是為了要窺探偵察，而傾覆這城嗎？」哈嫩就抓住大衛的臣僕，把他們的鬍鬚剃去一半，又割斷他們下半截的袍子，露出下體，然後放了他們。有人告訴大衛，他就派人去迎接他們，因為這些人覺得很羞恥。王說：「可以住在耶利哥，等到鬍鬚長出來再回來。」亞捫人看到大衛憎惡他們，就派人去雇用伯‧利合的亞蘭人和瑣巴的亞蘭人，步兵二萬，以及瑪迦王的人一千、陀伯人一萬二千。大衛聽見了，就派約押和所有勇猛的軍隊出去。亞捫人出來，在城門前擺陣；瑣巴與利合的亞蘭人、陀伯人，以及瑪迦人另外在郊野擺陣。約押看見戰陣對着他前後擺列，就把從以色列所有精兵中挑選出來的，擺陣迎戰亞蘭人。他把其餘的兵交在他兄弟亞比篩手裏，亞比篩就擺陣迎戰亞捫人。約押對亞比篩說：「亞蘭人若強過我，你就來幫助我；亞捫人若強過你，我就去幫助你。你要剛強，我們要為自己的百姓，為我們上帝的城鎮奮勇。願耶和華照他所看為好的去做！」於是，約押和跟隨他的士兵前進攻打亞蘭人；亞蘭人在他面前逃跑。亞捫人見亞蘭人逃跑，他們也在亞比篩面前逃跑進城。約押就離開亞捫人，回耶路撒冷去了。

論亞捫人。耶和華如此說：以色列沒有兒子嗎？沒有後嗣嗎？米勒公為何承受迦得為業呢？屬它的百姓為何住其中的城鎮呢？看哪，日子將到，我必使人聽見打仗的喊聲，攻擊亞捫人所住的拉巴的喊聲。拉巴要成為廢墟，屬它的鄉鎮要被火焚燒。這是耶和華說的。先前承受以色列為業的，此時以色列倒要承受他們為業。這是耶和華說的。希實本哪，要哀號，因為愛地已成荒地。拉巴的鄉鎮哪，要呼喊，以麻布束腰；要哭號，在籬笆中往來奔跑；因米勒公和它的祭司、官長要一同被擄去。背道的民哪，你為何因有山谷，因有水流的山谷誇耀呢？為何倚靠自己的財寶，說：「誰能來到我們這裏呢？」萬軍之主耶和華說：看哪，我要使驚嚇從四圍的鄰邦臨到你們；你們必被趕出，各人一直往前，無人收容難民。但後來，我卻要使被擄的亞捫人歸回。這是耶和華說的。

此後，摩押人和亞捫人，連同一些米烏尼人來攻擊約沙法。
