又藉著他在十字架上所流的血成就了和平，就是藉著他使萬有——無論地上的或天上的——都與他自己和好了。從前，你們在邪惡的行為中與神隔絕，在意念中與他為敵；

故此，他必須在各方面都像他的弟兄們那樣，為要在屬神的事上成為憐憫人的、忠心的大祭司，好為子民的罪孽獻上平息祭。

這一切都是出於神，他藉著基督使我們與他自己和好，並且把這勸人與他和好的服事工作賜給了我們。這就是說，在基督裡，神使世人與自己和好，不把他們的過犯算在他們的身上，又把這和好的福音託付了我們。因此我們是基督的特使，就像神藉著我們在勸告人——我們代替基督請求說：「與神和好吧！」神使那位沒有罪的替我們成為罪，好使我們在他裡面成為神的義。

這樣，我們做神敵人的時候，尚且能藉著神兒子的死與神和好，何況和好以後，難道不更要藉著神兒子的生命得救嗎？不僅如此，我們現在藉著主耶穌基督與神和好了，就更要藉著他以神誇耀。
