但是我们的列祖狂妄自大，硬着颈项，不听从你的命令。

我们的先祖犯了罪，现在他们不在了；我们却要担负他们的罪孽。

“你们和你们的列祖，以及你们的君王、领袖，和全国的人民，在犹大的各城和耶路撒冷的街上烧的香，耶和华怎能忘记，他心里怎能不想起呢？

你这不是自作自受吗？耶和华你的神在路上引导你时，你却离弃了他。

从我们列祖的日子直到今日，我们罪恶深重，由于我们的罪孽，我们和我们的王，以及祭司，都被交在各地的列王手中：被刀杀、被掳掠、被抢夺，丢脸蒙羞，就像今天的光景一样。

但因为我们的祖先激怒了天上的神，神就把他们交在迦勒底人巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒的手中；尼布甲尼撒就拆毁这殿，把人民掳到巴比伦去。

主啊！求你按着你的一切公义，使你的怒气和忿怒转离你的城耶路撒冷，就是你的圣山；因我们的罪和我们列祖的罪孽的缘故，耶路撒冷和你的子民成了在我们四围的人羞辱的对象。

他向击败了他的大马士革的神献祭，说：“亚兰王的神帮助了他们，我也向它们献祭，使它们也帮助我。”它们却使他和以色列人灭亡。亚哈斯把神殿里的器皿收集起来，把这些神殿里的器皿都击碎了，又封闭了耶和华殿的各门，并且在耶路撒冷的各个角落建造祭坛。他又在犹大各城建造邱坛，向别的神烧香，惹怒他列祖的神。

他却随从以色列诸王的道路，又为巴力铸造偶像；并且在欣嫩子谷烧香，用火焚烧自己的儿女，像耶和华在以色列人面前驱走的外族人所行可厌恶的事一样；又在邱坛上、山冈上和各青翠树下，献祭烧香。

“因为我的子民作了两件恶事，就是离弃了我这活水的泉源，为自己凿了池子，是破裂不能存水的池子。

耶和华，我的力量、我的堡垒、我遭难时的避难所啊！万国要从地极前来朝见你，说：“我们列祖所承受的只是虚假的偶像，是虚空、一无用处的。

“你们去，为我、也为以色列和犹大的余民，求问耶和华关于我们发现的这书上的话；因为我们的列祖没有谨守耶和华的话，也没有照着这书上所记的一切去行，所以耶和华才向我们大发烈怒。”

爱父母过于爱我的，不配作属我的；爱儿女过于爱我的，不配作属我的；

并且说：‘我们若活在我们祖先的时代，决不会与他们一同流先知的血。’这样，你们就指证自己是杀害先知的人的子孙了。那么，去完成你们祖先的罪孽吧！

“我们的神啊，你是至大、全能、至可畏、守约施慈爱的神，现在求你不要把我们、我们的君王和领袖、我们的祭司和先知、我们的列祖和你的众民，从亚述列王的日子直到今日所遭遇的一切苦难，看为小事。
