从我们祖先的日子直到今日，我们的罪恶深重；因我们的罪孽，我们和君王、祭司都交在邻国诸王的手中，被杀害，掳掠，抢夺，脸上蒙羞，正如今日的景况。

但因我们祖先惹天上的神发怒，神把他们交在迦勒底人巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒的手中，他就拆毁这殿，又把百姓掳到巴比伦。

主啊，求你按你丰盛的公义，使你的怒气和愤怒转离你的城耶路撒冷，就是你的圣山。因我们的罪恶和我们祖先的罪孽，耶路撒冷和你的子民被四围的人羞辱。

他向那攻击他的大马士革的神明献祭，说：“因为亚兰王的神明帮助他们，我也要向这些神明献祭，好让它们帮助我。”但那些神明却使他和全以色列败亡。亚哈斯聚集神殿里的器皿，把神殿里的器皿都打碎了，并且封锁耶和华殿的门，又在耶路撒冷各处的转角为自己建筑祭坛。他在犹大各城建立丘坛，向别神烧香，惹耶和华—他列祖的神发怒。

却行以色列诸王的道，又铸造诸巴力的像，照着耶和华从以色列人面前赶出的外邦人所行可憎的事，在欣嫩子谷烧香，用火焚烧他的儿女，又在丘坛上、山冈上、各青翠树下献祭烧香。

因为我的百姓做了两件恶事：离弃我这活水的泉源；又为自己凿出水池，却是破裂不能储水的池子。”

耶和华啊，你是我的力量，是我的保障，在患难之日是我的避难所。列国的人必从地极来到你这里，说：“我们祖先所承受的，不过是虚假，是虚空无益之物。

“你们去，以所发现这书上的话，为我、为以色列和犹大幸存的人求问耶和华；因为我们的祖先没有遵守耶和华的话，没有照这书上所记的一切去做，耶和华的烈怒就倒在我们身上。”

爱父母胜过爱我的，不配作我的门徒；爱儿女胜过爱我的，不配作我的门徒。

说：‘若是我们在先祖的时代，必不和他们一同流先知的血。’这样，你们就证明自己是杀害先知的人的子孙了。你们去充满你们祖宗的恶贯吧！

“‘现在，我们的神啊，你是至大、至能、至可畏、守约施慈爱的神；我们的君王、官长、祭司、先知、祖先和你的众百姓，从亚述诸王的时候直到今日所遭遇的一切苦难，求你不要看为小事。
