耶和華如此說：看哪，我必照着在猶大王面前所讀那書上記載的一切詛咒，降禍於這地方和其上的居民。因為他們離棄我，向別神燒香，用他們手所做的一切惹我發怒，所以我的憤怒必倒在這地方，總不止息。』

眾祭司長和百姓也多多犯罪，效法列國一切可憎的事，玷污耶和華在耶路撒冷分別為聖的殿。耶和華－他們列祖的上帝因為愛惜自己的百姓和居所，一再差遣使者去警戒他們。他們卻嘲笑上帝的使者，藐視他的話，譏誚他的先知，以致耶和華向他的百姓大發烈怒，甚至無法可救。

我要使這地變荒涼，甚至佔領這地的敵人都驚訝。

耶和華就必將奇異的災害，就是嚴重持久的災害和長期難治的疾病，加在你和你後裔的身上。

「你若不聽從耶和華－你上帝的話，不謹守遵行他的一切誡命律例，就是我今日所吩咐你的，這一切的詛咒必臨到你身上，追隨你：你在城裏必受詛咒，在田間也必受詛咒。你的筐子和你的揉麵盆都必受詛咒。你身所生的，你地所產的，以及牛犢、羔羊，都必受詛咒。你出也受詛咒，入也受詛咒。耶和華因你作惡離棄他，必在你手裏所做的一切，使詛咒、困擾、責罰臨到你，直到你被除滅，直到你迅速滅亡。

我的百姓竟忘記我，向那虛無的神明燒香，它們使百姓在所行的路上、在古道上絆跌，去行未修築的斜路，他們的地就變為荒涼，長久被人嘲笑；凡經過這地的必驚駭搖頭。

這殿雖然崇高，將來凡經過的人必驚訝，嗤笑，說：『耶和華為何向這地和這殿如此行呢？』
