So Sennacherib went back to his own land in shame. He went into the temple of his god. There some of his own sons, the people closest to him, killed him with their swords.

And the Lord sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty warriors and commanders and officers in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he came into the house of his god, some of his own sons struck him down there with the sword.

唉！许多民族在喧哗，他们喧嚷好像海浪澎湃；列国在咆哮，他们吼叫，好像洪水奔流。万族怒号，好像众水涌流，但神必斥责他们，使他们远远逃跑；他们又被追赶，如同山上风前的糠秕，又像暴风前的尘土卷动。在晚上有惊恐，未到早晨，他们就没有了，这是那些抢夺我们的人所得的分，是那些掠劫我们的人应得的报应。

那天晚上，耶和华的使者出去，在亚述军营杀了十八万五千人。早上，他们起来的时候，看哪，到处都是死尸。于是亚述王西拿基立拔营离开，回去住在尼尼微。一日，他正在他的神亚斯洛的庙中叩拜的时候，亚得米勒和沙利色用刀刺杀了他，然后逃到亚拉腊地。他的儿子以撒哈顿接续他作王。

唯有你是可畏的，你的烈怒一发出，谁能在你面前站立得住呢？

他不归荣耀给神，所以主的使者立刻击打他，他被虫咬，就断了气。

傲慢来，羞辱也来；谦卑的人却有智慧。

耶和华说：“现在我要起来，现在我要兴起，现在我要被人尊崇。你们所怀的是糠秕，所生的是碎秸；我的气息必像火一般吞灭你们。众民必像燃烧的石灰，又像被割下的荆棘，在火中焚烧。

于是亚摩斯的儿子以赛亚派人去见希西家，说：“耶和华以色列的神这样说：‘你向我祷告有关亚述王西拿基立的事，我已经听见了。’

他必挫折众领袖的傲气，他必使地上的君王畏惧他。

我是耶和华，这是我的名；我必不把我的荣耀归给别人，也不把我当受的称赞归给雕刻的偶像。

我的神差遣了他的使者，封住狮子的口，使它们没有伤害我，因为我在神面前是清白的；王啊！在你面前我也没有作过任何错事。”

因为他说：“在我手下的众领袖不都是王吗？

耶和华赐极大的救恩给他所立的王，又向他的受膏者施慈爱，就是向大卫和他的后裔施慈爱，直到永远。

当天使向耶路撒冷伸手，要毁灭耶路撒冷的时候，耶和华就后悔降这灾祸，就对那毁灭众民的天使说：“够了，现在住手吧！”那时，耶和华的天使在耶布斯人亚劳拿的打禾场那里。

于是耶和华的使者出去，在亚述营中击杀了十八万五千人；到了早晨，有人起来，所见的都是死尸。亚述王西拿基立就拔营离去，返回本地，住在尼尼微。他在自己的神尼斯洛庙里叩拜的时候，他的儿子亚得米勒和沙利色用刀杀了他，然后逃到亚拉腊地。他的儿子以撒哈顿接续他作王。

耶和华必使人听见他威严的声音，在烈怒、吞灭一切火焰、大雨、暴风和冰雹之中，又使人看见他那降下来的膀臂。亚述人必因耶和华的声音惊惶；耶和华要用杖击打他们。耶和华必把刑罚的杖加在他们身上，每打一下，都有击鼓和弹琴的声音；耶和华在争战的时候，必挥动着手与他们争战。因为陀斐特那烧着的火早已安排好了，是为君王预备的，又深又宽；其中所堆的，是火和许多的柴；耶和华的气像一股硫磺火，把它燃点起来。

亚摩斯的儿子以赛亚就派人去见希西家，说：“耶和华以色列的神这样说：‘因为你向我祷告关于亚述王西拿基立的事，

这世代终结的时候，也是一样。那时天使要出去，把恶人从义人中分别出来。丢进火炉，在那里必要哀哭切齿。

尼布甲尼撒说：“沙得拉、米煞、亚伯尼歌的神是应当称颂的，他差遣使者拯救那些倚靠他的仆人；他们违抗王的命令，宁愿舍命，除了自己的神以外，不肯事奉敬拜任何其他的神。

我要使他的仇敌都披上羞辱，但他的冠冕必在他头上发光。”

心里勇敢的人都被抢掠，他们长睡不起；所有大能的勇士都无力举手。

看哪！主万军之耶和华在可怕的震撼声中，把树枝削去；身量高的必被砍下，高大的必被伐倒。树林中的密丛，他必用铁器砍下；黎巴嫩的树木必被大能者伐倒。

若不能，你怎能击退我主的臣仆中最小的军长呢？你竟倚靠埃及的战车和马兵吗？

在灭亡以先，必有骄傲；在跌倒以前，心中高傲。

地上的君王、大臣、军长、财主、勇士和所有作奴隶的、自由的，都藏在山洞和岩穴里。他们向山岭和岩石说：“倒在我们身上吧！把我们藏起来，躲避坐在宝座上那位的面，和羊羔的震怒！

他心里有智慧，而且有极大的能力，有谁对他刚硬而平安无事呢？

但你敌人的数量必多如灰尘，那些强暴者的数量也多如被吹散的糠秕，这必在顷刻之间，突然发生。万军之耶和华必用雷轰、地震、大声、旋风、暴风和吞灭人的火焰来惩罚他们。那时，所有攻击亚利伊勒的列国众军，就是所有攻击亚利伊勒和它的堡垒，以及迫害它的，必如梦景，如夜间的异象。又像饥饿的人在梦中吃饭，醒了以后，仍然觉得饥饿；又像口渴的人在梦中喝水，醒了以后，仍然觉得口渴，心里还是想喝。那攻打锡安山的列国众军，也必这样。

因此，主万军之耶和华必打发令人消瘦的病临到亚述王肥壮的军人中间，在他的荣耀之下必燃起火焰，如同火烧一样。以色列的光必变成火，他的圣者必成为火焰；在一日之间把亚述王的荆棘和蒺藜焚烧与吞灭。又把他树林和丰盛果园的荣美全部灭尽，包括灵魂和身体，好像一个患病的人渐渐虚弱一样。他林中剩下的树，数目必定稀少，连小孩子也能把它们的数目写下来。

我又看见一位天使站在太阳中，向高空所有的飞鸟大声呼喊说：“你们来吧！齐集起来赴神的大筵席！可以吃君王的肉、将领的肉、壮士的肉，马和骑士的肉，以及自由的、作奴隶的、大的、小的，所有人的肉。”
