Then Hezekiah repented of the pride of his heart, as did the people of Jerusalem; therefore the Lord’s wrath did not come on them during the days of Hezekiah.

Then Hezekiah had a change of heart. He was sorry he had been proud. The people of Jerusalem were also sorry they had sinned. So the Lord wasn’t angry with them as long as Hezekiah was king.

But Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

Then Hezekiah humbled himself and repented of his pride, as did the people of Jerusalem. So the Lord’s anger did not fall on them during Hezekiah’s lifetime.

Then Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart— he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem— so the LORD’s wrath didn’t come on them during Hezekiah’s lifetime.

But then Hezekiah and the residents of Jerusalem humbled themselves and abandoned their pride, and the LORD was not angry with them for the rest of Hezekiah’s reign.

“在猶大王希西家的日子，摩利沙人彌迦對猶大的眾民說預言：‘萬軍之耶和華這樣說：錫安要像田地被耕犁，耶路撒冷必成為廢墟，這殿的山必變為雜樹叢生的高岡。’猶大王希西家和猶大眾人可曾把他處死呢？希西家不是敬畏耶和華，求他開恩，以致耶和華回心轉意，沒有把他所說的災禍降在他們身上嗎？但我們現在竟自招大禍。”

瑪拿西在急難的時候，就懇求耶和華他的神，並且在他列祖的神面前非常謙卑。

因為你聽了我指著這地方和這裡的居民所說的話，就心裡感動，在神面前謙卑；你既然在我的面前謙卑，又撕裂衣服，在我的面前哭泣，所以我就垂聽你的禱告；這是耶和華的宣告。我必使你歸到你的列祖那裡去，你必平平安安歸入你的墳墓。我所要降在這地方和這地上的居民身上的一切災禍，你必不會親眼看見。’”他們就把這番話回覆王去了。

你們務要在主面前謙卑，他就使你們高升。

“你看見了亞哈在我面前怎樣謙卑自己，因為他在我面前謙卑自己，所以他還在世的日子，我必不降這災禍；到他兒子的日子，我必降這災禍與他的家。”

你要對他說：‘耶和華這樣說：你殺了人，又佔有他的產業嗎？’你又要對他說：‘耶和華這樣說：狗在甚麼地方舔拿伯的血，也必在甚麼地方舔你的血。’”

他的禱告，神怎樣應允他的懇求，他謙卑下來以前的一切罪惡和過犯，以及他在甚麼地方建築邱壇，設立亞舍拉和偶像，都記在先見（按照《馬索拉文本》的絕大部分文本，“先見”作“何賽”，原文與“先見”相似；現參照另一份文本和《七十士譯本》翻譯）的言行錄上。

以賽亞對希西家說：“你要聽耶和華的話：‘看哪，日子快到，那時你宮中的一切和你的祖先所積存直到今日的一切，都要被掠到巴比倫去，沒有一樣留下。’這是耶和華說的。並且你的眾子中，就是由你所出，你所生的，有一部分要被擄去。他們要在巴比倫王的王宮中當太監。”希西家對以賽亞說：“你所說耶和華的話很好。”他心裡說：“在我的日子有和平和安全不是很好嗎？”

“那時他們就會承認自己的罪孽和他們祖先的罪孽，就是他們對我不忠的過犯，又承認因為行事與我的心意相違，以致我也與他們作對，把他們帶到他們的仇敵之地。如果他們未受割禮的心這樣謙卑下來，情願接受他們罪孽的刑罰，

他沒有在耶和華面前謙卑，像他父親瑪拿西謙卑一樣；這亞們所犯的罪過越來越多。

看哪！日子必到，你家中所有的，以及你列祖所積蓄到今日的，都要被帶到巴比倫去，一樣也不留，這是耶和華說的。從你所出的眾子，就是你所生的，其中必有被擄去的，在巴比倫王宮裡作太監。”希西家對以賽亞說：“你所說耶和華的話不錯呀！”因為他心裡想：“在我有生之日，必有平安和穩固。”
