He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, following the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites.

Manasseh did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord. He followed the practices of the nations. The Lord hated those practices. The Lord had driven out those nations to make room for the Israelites.

And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel.

He did what was evil in the Lord’s sight, following the detestable practices of the pagan nations that the Lord had driven from the land ahead of the Israelites.

“你们进入你们的上帝耶和华将要赐给你们的土地后，不可仿效当地民族的可憎行径。

你们不可按照他们的方式敬拜你们的上帝耶和华。他们祭拜自己神明的种种行为令耶和华憎恶，他们甚至焚烧自己的儿女献给他们的神明。

在各丘坛烧香，如同耶和华在他们面前赶走的外族人一样。他们邪恶的行为激怒了耶和华。

拒绝遵守祂的律例和祂与他们祖先所立的约，无视祂的警告。他们随从虚无的偶像，自己也变得虚无。他们违背耶和华的命令，去效法周围的外族人。

我们岂能再违背你的诫命，与这些行为可憎的人通婚？若我们这样行，你岂不发怒毁灭我们，使我们无一幸免吗？

可是以色列人不肯听从。玛拿西诱使他们作恶，比耶和华在以色列人面前所毁灭的各族更严重。

这样你们就知道我是耶和华。因为你们没有遵行我的律例，没有顺从我的典章，却效法你们四邻外族的规矩。’”

“你们不可做这些事玷污自己。因为我要在你们面前赶走的各国正是因为这些行为而玷污了自己。他们居住的土地也都被玷污了，所以我因他们的罪恶而惩罚那片土地，我要使那片土地吐出他们。你们必须遵守我的律例和典章。不论你们还是寄居在你们中间的外族人，都不可做这些可憎之事。因为在你们之前居住在那里的人做了这些可憎之事，玷污了那片土地。如果你们玷污了那片土地，它也会像吐出从前的居民一样把你们吐出去。凡做这些可憎之事的，要将他从民中铲除。你们要遵守我的命令，不要效法那片土地上居民的恶俗，以致玷污自己。我是你们的上帝耶和华。”

“你们要遵行我的一切律例和典章，免得我要带你们去的那片土地把你们吐出去。我要在你们面前赶走那片土地上的各族，你们不要随从他们的习俗。他们做了以上那些事，所以我厌恶他们。

所有祭司长和民众也都仿效外族人的一切可憎行径，犯了大罪，玷污了耶和华在耶路撒冷使之圣洁的殿。

“你们将要赶走的那些民族听信术士和巫师，但你们的上帝耶和华不准你们仿效他们。

反倒与他们混居，仿效他们的习俗，拜他们的神像，陷入网罗。他们把自己的儿女当祭物献给鬼魔，他们把自己的儿女献给迦南的神像作祭物，流他们儿女无辜的血，玷污了那地方。他们的行为玷污了自己，使自己沦为淫妇。耶和华因此向祂的子民发怒，厌恶他们，

因为犹大王希西迦的儿子玛拿西在耶路撒冷的所作所为，我要使他们的遭遇令天下万国惊惧。
