智慧勝過打仗的兵器；但一個罪人能敗壞許多善事。

他廢去丘壇，毀壞柱像，砍下亞舍拉，打碎摩西所造的銅蛇，因為到那時以色列人仍向銅蛇燒香。人叫銅蛇為尼忽士但。

還有那些在屋頂拜天上萬象的，那些敬拜耶和華指着他起誓，卻又指着米勒公起誓的；

耶路撒冷的房屋和猶大君王的宮殿，就是他們在其上向天上的萬象燒香、向別神獻澆酒祭的宮殿房屋，都必被玷污，和陀斐特一樣。』」

從前猶大列王所立拜偶像的祭司，在猶大城鎮的丘壇和耶路撒冷周圍燒香，現在王都廢去，他們是向巴力和日、月、行星，以及天上萬象燒香的人。他把亞舍拉從耶和華殿裏搬到耶路撒冷外的汲淪溪，在汲淪溪邊焚燒，打碎成灰，把灰撒在平民的墳上。

又恐怕你向天舉目，看見耶和華－你的神為天下萬民所擺列的日月星辰，就是天上的萬象，就被誘惑去敬拜它們，事奉它們。

以色列人行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，去事奉諸巴力。他們離棄領他們出埃及地的耶和華－他們列祖的神，去隨從別神，就是四圍列國的神明，向它們叩拜，惹耶和華發怒。他們離棄了耶和華，去事奉巴力和亞斯她錄。

希西家豈不是將耶和華的丘壇和祭壇廢去，並且吩咐猶大與耶路撒冷的人說：你們當在一個壇前敬拜，在其上燒香嗎？

因為他們在各高岡上，各青翠樹下築丘壇，立柱像和亞舍拉。

他們的兒女思念他們在高岡上、青翠樹旁的祭壇和亞舍拉。

散佈在太陽、月亮和天上眾星之下，就是他們從前所喜愛、所事奉、所隨從、所求問、所敬拜的。這些骸骨不被收殮，不被埋葬，必在地面上成為糞土。

但是神轉臉不顧，任憑他們祭拜天上的日月星辰，正如先知書上所寫的：『以色列家啊，你們四十年間在曠野，何曾將犧牲和祭物獻給我？

他重新建築他父親希西家所毀壞的丘壇，又為巴力築壇，造亞舍拉，效法以色列王亞哈所行的，敬拜天上的萬象，事奉它們。

那人是智慧是愚昧，誰能知道呢？他竟要掌管我在日光之下用智慧勞碌所得的。這也是虛空。

他把在耶和華殿門旁、靠近拿單‧米勒官員走廊的屋子，猶大列王獻給太陽的馬廢去，且用火焚燒獻給太陽的戰車。

卻行以色列諸王的道，又鑄造諸巴力的像，照着耶和華從以色列人面前趕出的外邦人所行可憎的事，在欣嫩子谷燒香，用火焚燒他的兒女，又在丘壇上、山岡上、各青翠樹下獻祭燒香。
