昔於亞筆月、暮夜之時、爾之上帝耶和華導爾出埃及、故必於是月、守逾越節、奉事爾上帝耶和華。當於其特簡之室、為人籲名之所、獻逾越祭羔、以及牛羊、奉爾上帝耶和華。屆此節期、毋食酵、歷七日、必食無酵餅、以識艱苦、昔爾出埃及、惟恐不速、故當憶是事、畢生勿忘。七日間、爾之四境、毋存其酵、節之首日薄暮、爾之胙肉、毋留於明晨。爾上帝耶和華所賜之邑、毋得隨在獻其踰越節羔、惟其特簡之室、為之籲名之所、爾於薄暮、必獻其羔、爾出埃及、於日入之後、故獻斯羔、必於斯時。烹而食之、在爾上帝耶和華特簡之室、明晨可歸己舍。六日間、必食無酵餅、七日必有會、是日為大、以奉爾上帝耶和華、咸止工作。○

希西家召以色列猶大二族、復致書以法蓮馬拿西二支派、使至耶路撒冷、詣耶和華殿守逾越節、奉事以色列族之上帝耶和華。正月祭司未得成潔、民未咸至耶路撒冷、不能守此禮、故王與群伯及耶路撒冷會眾、議於二月守逾越節。王與會眾以為善。年久民未循例守禮、故立志普告以色列族、自但及別是巴、使咸至耶路撒冷、守逾越節、奉事以色列族之上帝耶和華。王與群伯、使趨承者致書、遍以色列猶大二族、曰、以色列族、當歸亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列之上帝、凡不見害於亞述列王之遺民者、必蒙耶和華祐、爾父兄違列祖之上帝耶和華、故見殲滅、今日之事為證、爾勿效尤。毋強爾項、濟乃父之惡、宜從耶和華。彼之聖室、業已成潔、歷世弗替、爾當入之、役事爾之上帝耶和華、則其震怒可息。爾之上帝耶和華仁慈矜憫、如爾歸之、必不棄爾、即爾見虜之子弟、亦蒙矜憫、得反斯土。趨承者遍行以法蓮馬拿西諸邑、延及西布倫為人訕笑。亞設、馬拿西、西布倫中有數人、卑以自牧、詣耶路撒冷。在猶大地上帝使民一心、遵從王與群伯所傳耶和華命。○二月會眾至耶路撒冷、守無酵節、不可勝數。在耶路撒冷、獻祭之壇、焚香之壇、民去之、投於汲淪溪、惟耶和華之壇存焉。二月十四日、人宰逾越節羔、祭司及利未人深以為恥、自潔其身、攜燔祭入耶和華殿、各立其所、循常例、遵上帝僕摩西律例、利未人畀血於祭司、祭司灑之。會中之人、未潔者眾、弗敢宰逾越節羔、利未人代宰、則於耶和華前、可為潔。以法蓮、馬拿西、以薩迦、西布倫、所至民眾、未潔其體、守逾越節、不循常例、希西家禱曰、如人崇列祖之上帝耶和華、惟一其心、雖不潔己、循聖所之例、耶和華無不善、願蒙赦宥。
