I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, that are present here, offer willingly unto thee.

And Shaphan read therein before the king.And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying,

Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them, but without violence; for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.
