禍哉！那以不公義蓋房，以不公平造樓，白白使鄰舍做工，卻不給工錢的人，他說：「我要為自己蓋寬敞的房，蓋高大的樓。」他為它開窗戶，以香柏木為牆板，漆上丹紅色。難道你作王就是要蓋香柏木樓房爭勝的嗎？你的父親豈不是也吃也喝，也施行公平和公義嗎？那時他得了福樂。他為困苦和貧窮的人伸冤，那時就得了福樂。認識我不就在此嗎？這是耶和華說的。你的眼和你的心卻專顧不義之財，流無辜人的血，行欺壓和殘暴。所以，耶和華論到約西亞的兒子猶大王約雅敬如此說：人必不為他舉哀：「哀哉，我的哥哥！哀哉，我的姊姊！」也不為他舉哀：「哀哉，我的主！哀哉，我主的榮華！」他被埋葬好像埋驢子一樣，被拖出去，扔在耶路撒冷城門外。

王燒了有巴錄從耶利米口中所寫之話的書卷以後，耶和華的話臨到耶利米，說：「你再取一書卷，將猶大王約雅敬所燒前一卷書上原有的一切話寫在上面。論到猶大王約雅敬你要說，耶和華如此說：你燒了這書卷，說：『你為甚麼在上面寫着，巴比倫王必要來毀滅這地，使這地絕了人民和牲畜呢？』所以耶和華論到猶大王約雅敬說：他後裔中必沒有人坐在大衛的寶座上；他的屍首必被拋棄，白天受炎熱，黑夜受寒霜。我必因他和他後裔，並他臣僕的罪孽懲罰他們。我要使我所說的一切災禍臨到他們和耶路撒冷的居民，並猶大人；只是他們不肯聽從。」於是，耶利米又取一書卷交給尼利亞的兒子巴錄文士，他就從耶利米的口中寫了猶大王約雅敬在火中所燒書卷上的一切話，另外又添了許多相仿的話。

當約西亞的兒子約雅敬作猶大王的時候，耶和華的話臨到耶利米，說：
