He stationed the Levites in the temple of the Lord with cymbals, harps and lyres in the way prescribed by David and Gad the king’s seer and Nathan the prophet; this was commanded by the Lord through his prophets. (niv)

Then the army returned to camp and spent the night there.Joshua got up early the next morning and the priests took up the ark of the Lord.The seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward, marching before the ark of the Lord and blowing the trumpets. The armed men went ahead of them and the rear guard followed the ark of the Lord, while the trumpets kept sounding.So on the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. They did this for six days.On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times.The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army,“ Shout! For the Lord has given you the city!The city and all that is in it are to be devoted to the Lord. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent.But keep away from the devoted things, so that you will not bring about your own destruction by taking any of them. Otherwise you will make the camp of Israel liable to destruction and bring trouble on it.All the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron are sacred to the Lord and must go into his treasury.”When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city. With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the Lord,“ for his love endures forever.”Heman and Jeduthun were responsible for the sounding of the trumpets and cymbals and for the playing of the other instruments for sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were stationed at the gate. (niv)

Now David was clothed in a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, and as were the musicians, and Kenaniah, who was in charge of the singing of the choirs. David also wore a linen ephod. (niv)

Out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues. They were dressed in clean, shining linen and wore golden sashes around their chests. (niv)

David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their fellow Levites as musicians to make a joyful sound with musical instruments: lyres, harps and cymbals.So the Levites appointed Heman son of Joel; from his relatives, Asaph son of Berekiah; and from their relatives the Merarites, Ethan son of Kushaiah;and with them their relatives next in rank: Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.The musicians Heman, Asaph and Ethan were to sound the bronze cymbals;Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah and Benaiah were to play the lyres according to alamoth,and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel and Azaziah were to play the harps, directing according to sheminith.Kenaniah the head Levite was in charge of the singing; that was his responsibility because he was skillful at it. David, together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying, accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals. Here is the list of the men who performed this service:From the sons of Asaph: Zakkur, Joseph, Nethaniah and Asarelah. The sons of Asaph were under the supervision of Asaph, who prophesied under the king’s supervision.As for Jeduthun, from his sons: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah and Mattithiah, six in all, under the supervision of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied, using the harp in thanking and praising the Lord.As for Heman, from his sons: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael and Jerimoth; Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti-Ezer; Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir and Mahazioth.( All these were sons of Heman the king’s seer. They were given him through the promises of God to exalt him. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.)All these men were under the supervision of their father for the music of the temple of the Lord, with cymbals, lyres and harps, for the ministry at the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman were under the supervision of the king.Along with their relatives— all of them trained and skilled in music for the Lord— they numbered 288. (niv)

The Lord said to Moses:“ Make two trumpets of hammered silver, and use them for calling the community together and for having the camps set out.When both are sounded, the whole community is to assemble before you at the entrance to the tent of meeting.If only one is sounded, the leaders— the heads of the clans of Israel— are to assemble before you.When a trumpet blast is sounded, the tribes camping on the east are to set out. When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their vestments and with trumpets, and the Levites( the sons of Asaph) with cymbals, took their places to praise the Lord, as prescribed by David king of Israel.With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord:“ He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.” And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid. They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord. They were to do the same in the evening (niv)

to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. (niv)

The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets. (niv)

Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. (niv)

Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.”( Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.) (niv)

The priests took their positions, as did the Levites with the Lord’s musical instruments, which King David had made for praising the Lord and which were used when he gave thanks, saying,“ His love endures forever.” Opposite the Levites, the priests blew their trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing. (niv)

David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets. (niv)

He appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, to extol, thank, and praise the Lord, the God of Israel:Asaph was the chief, and next to him in rank were Zechariah, then Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed- Edom and Jeiel. They were to play the lyres and harps, Asaph was to sound the cymbals,and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow the trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God. (niv)
