“ When your people go to war against their enemies, wherever you send them, and when they pray to you toward this city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name,

禱曰、我列祖之上帝耶和華、穹蒼之上帝、萬國之主宰、爾有能力、莫之敢禦。昔有人居斯土、上帝啟以色列族而驅之、亞伯拉罕為上帝所眷顧、遂以斯土錫其苗裔、俾為恆業。今以色列族居此、建聖室、為籲爾名之所、自謂如遇災害、或興戎、或譴責、或瘟疫、或飢饉、我至斯殿、以籲爾名、立於爾前、求爾去禍、爾必垂聽援我。昔以色列族、出埃及時、謹守爾命、過亞捫摩押、西耳之地、不侵伐之、不翦滅之、今彼以惡報我、欲行驅逐、出爾所錫之地。願上帝為我一洒之、彼眾我實不能禦、如何則可、惟爾是望。猶大族眾、與其妻孥、侍立耶和華前。

希西家王亞麼士子先知以賽亞、呼天祈禱。耶和華遣使至亞述王營壘、滅諸勁旅、與武士長、亞述王恥之、遄歸故土、入其上帝殿、為子所弒。

爾與敵戰見車馬人民、較己尤眾、則毋畏懼、蓋爾上帝耶和華昔導爾出埃及、必輔翼爾。臨陳之時、祭司必至民前、告之曰、以色列族、尚聽之哉、爾今日攻敵臨戰、毋怯心、毋畏葸、毋恐懼、毋震驚、蓋爾上帝耶和華佑爾、為爾攻敵、以拯爾曹。

耶和華諭約書亞曰、毋恐懼、毋畏葸、率眾武士、往擊埃邑、我以其王與民、爰及邑郊、悉付與爾。昔爾待耶利哥與其王、今之待埃與其王、亦必若是。惟其貨財牲畜、為爾所得、當伏兵於邑後。約書亞與眾武士往以攻埃、先簡勁旅三萬、星夜遣之、告曰、當伏於邑後、去勿甚遠、預備以戰。我與從人、近於邑前、彼出以攻、與昔無異、我必遁逃、彼將追我、遠離其邑、自謂以色列人遁逃如故。我遁時、汝離伏所、以取其邑、蓋爾上帝耶和華必以邑付爾。既取邑必焚之、循耶和華命、我所告爾者若是。

我為之建殿、永為駐蹕之所。

汝為以色列族報仇、罰米田人、而後返本。摩西告民曰、汝必備戰、攻擊米田人、使耶和華怨米田人之憤可洩。於以色列族中、各簡一千人備戰。於是以色列族中臨陳者各支派一千人、總計一萬二千、預備以戰。摩西遣之、又遣祭司以利亞撒子非尼哈執聖器、吹號角、

古實人西喇率軍百萬、車三百乘、至馬哩沙、攻猶大族。亞撒至馬哩沙、於西法大谷、陳列行伍、籲上帝耶和華曰、爾欲援我、民之多寡、力之強弱、無不可以之克敵、我之上帝耶和華歟、求爾助我、蓋我賴爾名、禦斯有眾、願上帝耶和華、毋許人勝爾。耶和華擊古實人、使為亞撒猶大族所敗、而遁。

當耶和華遣爾之時、曾告爾曰、亞馬力族俱干罪戾、汝往攻之、必盡殄滅。

今可攻之、殲滅所有、毋加矜恤、男女、童稚、嬰孩、牛羊駝驢、悉當殺戮。

今選耶路撒冷、為籲我名之所、又選大闢、治我以色列族之民。

約書亞既沒、以色列族問於耶和華曰、孰可先往、代我攻迦南人。耶和華曰猶大族可往、我以是地付於其手。

車騎之長見約沙法、則曰、彼以色列王也。遂環而攻之。約沙法大聲而呼、耶和華上帝祐之、敵乃去、

鄰封遣使至、將何以答之、曰、耶和華建造郇邑、貧民實倚賴之。

我僕摩西逝世、爾今導民濟約但、至我所賜以色列族之地。昔我與摩西曾有是言、今必踐之、爾足所履之地、必以錫爾、自曠野及利巴嫩、至百辣大河、赫人遍地、爰及大海、日入之處、為爾境界。昔我佑摩西、今亦佑爾、不汝遐棄、俾爾畢生、無人能禦。

猶大族自諸邑和會、求耶和華。

如爾國民、奉爾所遣、無論何適、與敵戰鬥時、向爾所簡之邑、及我所建之殿、為籲爾名之所、祈禱耶和華、則爾在天、俯聞厥祈、使其獲勝。

但以理聞王已鈐印誌、則歸啟牖、向耶路撒冷屈膝曲跽、日凡三次、循其常例、禱告祝謝上帝、
