    約當那時,關於這道路、起了不小的騷動。有一個人名叫底米丟,是個銀匠,是製造亞底米銀龕的;他使這樣手藝的人得了不少的生意。他集合了他們、以及四圍這種手藝的工人,說:『同人們,你們知道我們的財是由這個生意而發的。你們看,你們聽,不但在以弗所、也幾乎在全亞西亞、這個保羅都唆誘了帶壞了好大羣的人,說:「那些用人手作的並不是神。」這樣,不但我們這工業有陷於不名譽的危險,就是大女神亞底米的廟也被算為無物了,並且連全亞西亞和天下所敬拜的、她的威榮也將要消損了。』他們聽見,就滿心暴怒,喊着說:『偉大呀,以弗所人的亞底米!』那城裏滿了紛亂;他們就抓住保羅的旅伴、馬其頓人該猶和亞里達古,同心合意齊心地衝進戲園。保羅有意思要進去到民眾中間,門徒卻不容許他。還有幾個亞西亞長、是跟保羅做朋友的、也打發人來見他,勸他不要自己投入戲園。當時有的喊這個,有的喊那個;那個會集紛紛亂亂,大多數人都不知道是為了甚麼而聚攏來。有人把亞力山大從羣眾中蜂擁出來,猶太人又推他往前;亞力山大就擺手,想要對民眾分訴。他們一認出他是猶太人,眾人中就發出一樣的聲音、約有兩個鐘頭,喊着說:『偉大呀,以弗所人的亞底米!』書記官叫羣眾安靜了之後,就說:『以弗所人哪,有甚麼人不知道以弗所城是亞底米和天降像的守殿者呢?
