For,“ His letters”, they say,“ are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech is despised.”

因为有人说：“保罗的书信又严厉又强硬，但他亲身在的时候却是软弱的人，他的言语也被藐视。”

因為有人說：「他的信又沉重又厲害，及至見面，卻是氣貌不揚，言語粗俗的。」

因為有人說：「他信上的語氣既嚴厲又強硬，他本人卻軟弱無能，言語粗俗。」

因為有人說：「他信上的語氣既嚴厲又強硬，他本人卻軟弱無能，言語粗俗。」

因為有人說：「他信中的話有分量，很嚴厲，他本人卻軟弱無能，言語粗俗。」

因為有人說：“他的信又嚴厲又強硬，他本人卻其貌不揚，言語粗俗。”

因為有人說：「論他的書信倒有重量有魄力；及至身臨面對、卻是軟弱無力，說話又平淡可鄙」。

因為有人說：「保羅的書信又嚴厲又強硬，但他親身在的時候卻是軟弱的人，他的言語也被藐視。」

或謂我書嚴厲、晤對時則身柔言鄙、

有言我書嚴厲、及晤對時、身柔言鄙、

有人言、我書嚴厲、及至晤會時、身弱言陋、

頗聞人言：『彼之書札、雖雷厲風行；而彼之形軀、則柔弱無能、言語更無足輕重。』

For some say,“ His letters are weighty and forceful, but in person he is unimpressive and his speaking amounts to nothing.”

Some say,“ His letters sound important. They are powerful. But in person he doesn’t seem like much. And what he says doesn’t amount to anything.”

For they say,“ His letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech of no account.”

For some say,“ Paul’s letters are demanding and forceful, but in person he is weak, and his speeches are worthless!”

For it is said,“ His letters are weighty and powerful, but his physical presence is weak and his public speaking amounts to nothing.”

For they say,“ His letters are weighty and strong, but his personal presence is unimpressive and his speech contemptible.”

“ For his letters,” they say,“ are weighty and powerful, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.”

For, His letters, they say, are weighty and strong; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech of no account.

For it is said,“ His letters are weighty and powerful, but his physical presence is weak, and his public speaking is despicable.”

For[ his] letters, say they,[ are] weighty and powerful; but[ his] bodily presence[ is] weak, and[ his] speech contemptible.

because some say,“ His letters are weighty and forceful, but his physical presence is weak and his speech is of no account.”

For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News— not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of Christ wouldn’t be made void.

but you know that because of weakness in the flesh I preached the Good News to you the first time.That which was a temptation to you in my flesh, you didn’t despise nor reject; but you received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

But though I am unskilled in speech, yet I am not unskilled in knowledge. No, in every way we have been revealed to you in all things.

On behalf of such a one I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in my weaknesses.For if I would desire to boast, I will not be foolish; for I will speak the truth. But I refrain, so that no man may think more of me than that which he sees in me or hears from me.By reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted excessively, a thorn in the flesh was given to me: a messenger of Satan to torment me, that I should not be exalted excessively.Concerning this thing, I begged the Lord three times that it might depart from me.He has said to me,“ My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

When I came to you, brothers, I didn’t come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

Then I said,“ Ah, Lord Yahweh! Behold, I don’t know how to speak; for I am a child.”

Moses said to Yahweh,“ O Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”

For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.

Now I Paul, myself, entreat you by the humility and gentleness of Christ, I who in your presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you.
