Another reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything.

I wrote to you for another special reason. I wanted to see if you could stand the test. I wanted to see if you could obey everything asked of you.

所以，虽然我从前写信给你们，却不是为那亏负人的，也不是为那受人亏负的，而是要在神面前把你们顾念我们的热忱表现出来。因此，我们得了安慰。在我们所得的安慰之外，又因你们众人使提多心里畅快喜乐，我们就更加欢喜了。我若对提多夸奖过你们什么，也不觉得惭愧，因为我对提多夸奖你们的话是真的，正如我对你们所说的话也向来都是真的。提多一想起你们众人的顺服，怎样恐惧战兢地接待他，他爱你们的心就越发热切了。

若有人不听从我们这信上的话，要把他记下，不和他交往，使他自觉羞愧；

又在旷野将你列祖所不认识的吗哪赐给你吃，为要磨炼你，考验你，终久使你享福。

我写信给你，深信你必顺服，知道你所要做的，必过于我所说的。

你要记得，这四十年耶和华—你的神在旷野一路引导你，是要磨炼你，考验你，为要知道你的心如何，是否愿意遵守他的诫命。

所以，你们务要在众教会面前向他们显明你们的爱心和我所夸奖你们的凭据。

我亲爱的，这样看来，你们向来是顺服的，不但我在你们那里，就是我现在不在你们那里的时候更是顺服的，就当恐惧战兢完成你们自己得救的事；

耶和华对摩西说：“看哪，我要从天降食物给你们。百姓可以出去，每天收集当天的分量。这样，我就可以考验他们是否遵行我的指示。

你不可听那先知或是那做梦之人的话，因为这是耶和华—你们的神考验你们，要知道你们是否尽心尽性爱耶和华—你们的神。
