Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

God has formed us for that very purpose. He has given us the Holy Spirit as a down payment. The Spirit makes us sure of what is still to come.

He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit.

Now the one who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the Spirit as a down payment.

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession— to the praise of his glory. When they reached the Valley of Eshkol, they cut off a branch bearing a single cluster of grapes. Two of them carried it on a pole between them, along with some pomegranates and figs.That place was called the Valley of Eshkol because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut off there.At the end of forty days they returned from exploring the land.They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh in the Desert of Paran. There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land.They gave Moses this account:“ We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. (niv)

When they see among them their children, the work of my hands, they will keep my name holy; they will acknowledge the holiness of the Holy One of Jacob, and will stand in awe of the God of Israel. (niv)

and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. (niv)

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. (niv)

Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land forever. They are the shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendor. (niv)

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (niv)
