现在我先派这几位弟兄到你们那里，以便你们把捐款预备好，正如我所说的那样，免得我们在这件事上夸耀你们的话成了虚言。

吾今之所以先派兄弟者、亦欲爾等有備、庶幾吾所誇獎爾等之事、不成子虛烏有；

But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be.

所以，我们劝提多要继续完成他早先在你们当中开始的这件善事。

至于捐款帮助圣徒这件事，你们可以照我吩咐加拉太各教会的方法办理。每逢周日，各人应按照自己的收入抽出一部分留起来，免得我到的时候才现凑。我到了以后，会差遣你们委托的人带着推荐信把你们的捐款送到耶路撒冷。如果我也需要去的话，他们可以跟我一起去。

我若对提多夸奖了你们什么，也不觉得惭愧，因为我先前向提多夸奖你们的话都证明是真实的，正如我告诉你们的一切都是真实的。

这固然是他听了我们的劝告，但也是他自己非常热诚，自愿去你们那里。我们还要派一位弟兄和他同去，这位弟兄在传福音的事上得到各地教会的赞许。此外，他还受各教会的委派，与我们一同把捐款送往耶路撒冷，使主得荣耀，并表明我们热诚相助的心。我们这样做是为了避免有人挑我们的不是，因我们经手的捐款数目可观。无论在主面前或在人面前，我们务求行事为人光明磊落。我们还要再派一位弟兄和他们一同去你们那里。我们经过多次多方的考验，证实他很热心，而且他因为十分信任你们，现在更热心了。至于提多，他是我的同伴，与我一同服侍你们。另外两位弟兄是众教会的代表，是基督的荣耀。所以，你们要在众教会面前向他们证明你们的爱心，以及我夸耀你们的话并非虚言。

你要提醒众人顺服执政掌权者，遵守法令，随时准备做善事。

因为万一有马其顿的人与我同去，发现你们并没有准备好，不但我们会因如此信任你们而羞愧，你们也会无地自容。因此，我认为有必要请那几位弟兄先去你们那里，将你们从前认捐的款项收集妥当，这样就表明你们的捐赠是出于甘心乐意，而不是出于勉强。
