不过我派这些弟兄去，是为了我们在这方面对你们的夸耀不至于落空，好让你们能照着我所说的准备好；

吾今之所以先派兄弟者、亦欲爾等有備、庶幾吾所誇獎爾等之事、不成子虛烏有；

But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow, but that you may be ready, as I said you would be.

我们于是劝提多，他怎样开始了这恩惠之事，就当照样在你们那里把它完成；

关于为圣徒收集的事，我从前怎样吩咐加拉太的各教会，你们也当照样做：每周的头一天，你们每个人如果充裕，就应当从中拿出一些积蓄起来，免得我来的时候才开始收集。等我来了，我会派你们所认可的那些人，带着书信，把你们的惠赠送到耶路撒冷。但如果我也该去，他们就要与我一同去。

原来，即使我向提多夸耀过你们什么，我也不至于蒙羞；其实就像我们对你们所讲的一切都是真实的，照样我们向提多所夸耀你们的也是真实的；

提多一方面接受了我们的鼓励，另一方面自己更是殷勤，自愿到你们那里去。我们也打发了一位弟兄与他一起去。这位弟兄在福音工作上受到各教会的称赞；不仅如此，他也被各教会选出，与我们一起带着惠赠同行。我们这服事为的是主自己的荣耀，也为了表明我们的乐意之心。我们这样谨慎，免得有人在我们所经手的这丰厚之事上挑剔我们，因为我们不仅要敬重主看为美善的事，也要敬重人看为美善的事。我们还打发了另一位弟兄和他们一起去。我们在很多事上多次验证过这位弟兄是殷勤的，而现在他因为深深地信任你们，就更加殷勤了。论到提多，他是我的同伴，也是为着你们的同工。至于那两位弟兄，他们是各教会的使者，是基督的荣耀。所以，你们要在各教会面前，向他们显出你们爱心的凭证，以及我们所夸耀你们的凭据。

你提醒他们要服从统治者和掌权者，要顺从，并要为一切美善的工作做好准备；

免得万一有些马其顿人和我一起来，发现你们并没有预备好，我们就会因着对你们的确信而蒙羞，更不用说你们了。所以，我认为必须鼓励这些弟兄先到你们那里去，把你们已经许诺的惠赠提前安排好，这样就表明你们所预备好的就是惠赠，而不是被强取的。
