Elijah answered the captain,“ If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!” Then fire fell from heaven and consumed the captain and his men.

Elijah answered the captain,“ If I’m really a man of God, may fire come down from heaven! May it burn up you and your 50 men!” Then fire came down from heaven. It burned up the captain and his men.

But Elijah answered the captain of fifty,“ If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.

When His disciples James and John saw this, they said,“ Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?”

And if anyone wants to harm them, fire flows out of their mouth and devours their enemies; and so if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way.

Then at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet approached and said,“ Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, today let it be known that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.Answer me, Lord, answer me, so that this people may know that You, Lord, are God, and that You have turned their heart back.”Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood, and the stones and the dust; and it licked up the water that was in the trench.

for our God is a consuming fire.

While he was still speaking, another came and said,“ The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

Now he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the road, some young boys came out from the city and ridiculed him and said to him,“ Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!”When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty two of the boys.

“ Do not touch My anointed ones, And do not harm My prophets.”

Fire also came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense.

And a fire blazed up in their company; The flame consumed the wicked.

For this reason, because the king’s command was harsh and the furnace had been made extremely hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed nego.

The king then gave orders, and they brought those men who had maliciously accused Daniel, and they threw them, their children, and their wives into the lions’ den; and they had not reached the bottom of the den before the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.

Then Moses said,“ By this you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these deeds; for it is not my doing.If these men die the death of all mankind, or if they suffer the fate of all mankind, then the Lord has not sent me.But if the Lord brings about an entirely new thing and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them with everything that is theirs, and they descend alive into Sheol, then you will know that these men have been disrespectful to the Lord.”

Now the people became like those who complain of adversity in the ears of the Lord; and the Lord heard them and His anger was kindled, and the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed some at the outskirts of the camp.

but they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose against His people, until there was no remedy.

When Herod had searched for him and had not found him, he examined the guards and ordered that they be led away to execution. Then he went down from Judea to Caesarea and was spending time there.

He responded,“ Look! I see four men untied and walking about in the middle of the fire unharmed, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!”

“ Therefore, behold, I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city,so that upon you will fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.

But Micaiah said,“ If you actually return safely, the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said,“ Listen, all you people!”

They* said to Him,“ He will bring those wretches to a wretched end and lease the vineyard to other vine growers, who will pay him the fruit in the proper seasons.”

But Peter said,“ Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the proceeds of the land?While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God.”And as he heard these words, Ananias collapsed and died; and great fear came over all who heard about it.The young men got up and covered him up, and after carrying him out, they buried him.Now an interval of about three hours elapsed, and his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.And Peter responded to her,“ Tell me whether you sold the land for this price?” And she said,“ Yes, for that price.”Then Peter said to her,“ Why is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out as well.”And immediately she collapsed at his feet and died; and the young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.
