你們要用火焚燒他們神明的雕刻偶像；不可貪愛偶像上的金銀，也不可私自收起來，免得你因此陷入圈套，因為這是耶和華－你神所憎惡的。

我要摧毀你們的丘壇，砍掉你們的香壇，把你們的屍首扔在你們偶像的殘骸上。我的心也必厭惡你們，

他廢去丘壇，毀壞柱像，砍下亞舍拉，打碎摩西所造的銅蛇，因為到那時以色列人仍向銅蛇燒香。人叫銅蛇為尼忽士但。

他又拆毀耶和華殿裏男的廟妓的屋子，就是婦女在那裏為亞舍拉編織衣服的屋子。他從猶大的城鎮將眾祭司帶來，從迦巴直到別是巴，玷污祭司燒香的丘壇。他又拆毀城門旁的丘壇，這丘壇是在約書亞市長的城門前，在人進城門的左邊。只是丘壇的祭司不登耶路撒冷耶和華的壇，僅在他們弟兄中間吃無酵餅。他又玷污欣嫩子谷的陀斐特，不許人在那裏使兒女經火獻給摩洛。他把在耶和華殿門旁、靠近拿單‧米勒官員走廊的屋子，猶大列王獻給太陽的馬廢去，且用火焚燒獻給太陽的戰車。猶大列王在亞哈斯樓房頂上所築的壇和瑪拿西在耶和華殿兩院中所築的壇，王都拆毀，從那裏移走，把灰倒在汲淪溪中。從前以色列王所羅門在耶路撒冷東邊、邪僻山南邊為西頓人可憎的亞斯她錄、摩押人可憎的基抹、亞捫人可憎的米勒公所築的丘壇，王都玷污了，又打碎柱像，砍下亞舍拉，用人的骨頭填滿那地方。

他作王第八年，尚且年輕，就尋求他祖先大衛的神。到了十二年，他開始潔淨猶大和耶路撒冷，除掉丘壇、亞舍拉、雕刻的像和鑄造的像。眾人在他面前拆毀諸巴力的壇，砍斷壇上高高的香壇，又把亞舍拉和雕刻的像，以及鑄造的像打碎成灰，撒在向偶像獻祭之人的墳上，把祭司的骸骨燒在他們的壇上，潔淨了猶大和耶路撒冷。他又在瑪拿西、以法蓮、西緬、拿弗他利各城和四圍的廢墟，拆毀祭壇，把亞舍拉和雕刻的像打碎成灰，砍斷以色列全地所有的香壇。於是他回耶路撒冷去了。
