“ And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which is by the River Arnon, and half the mountains of Gilead and its cities, I gave to the Reubenites and the Gadites.The rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to half the tribe of Manasseh.( All the region of Argob, with all Bashan, was called the land of the giants.Jair the son of Manasseh took all the region of Argob, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and called Bashan after his own name, Havoth Jair, to this day.)“ Also I gave Gilead to Machir.And to the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave from Gilead as far as the River Arnon, the middle of the river as the border, as far as the River Jabbok, the border of the people of Ammon;the plain also, with the Jordan as the border, from Chinnereth as far as the east side of the Sea of the Arabah( the Salt Sea), below the slopes of Pisgah.

So Moses gave to the children of Gad, to the children of Reuben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land with its cities within the borders, the cities of the surrounding country.And the children of Gad built Dibon and Ataroth and Aroer,Atroth and Shophan and Jazer and Jogbehah,Beth Nimrah and Beth Haran, fortified cities, and folds for sheep.And the children of Reuben built Heshbon and Elealeh and Kirjathaim,Nebo and Baal Meon( their names being changed) and Shibmah; and they gave other names to the cities which they built.And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were in it.So Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh, and he dwelt in it.Also Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its small towns, and called them Havoth Jair.Then Nobah went and took Kenath and its villages, and he called it Nobah, after his own name.

from Aroer which is on the bank of the River Arnon, and the town that is in the midst of the ravine, and all the plain of Medeba as far as Dibon;all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, as far as the border of the children of Ammon;Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salcah;all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the giants; for Moses had defeated and cast out these.
