撒母耳以國之法度、宣講於民、錄之於書、置於主前、然後撒母耳遣散民眾、各歸其家、

今我有意立約、必歸主以色列之天主、或作今我有意與主以色列之天主立約或主向我息怒、

瑪鹿、哈琳、巴拿、其餘之民、祭司、利未人、守門者、謳歌者、殿役、及凡與異邦人絕交從天主律法者、並其妻其子女、凡有知識能明者、

居上位秉權者、人人當服之、蓋無權非由天主、凡秉權者皆天主所命、故抗秉權者、乃逆天主命、逆者自取罪戾、有司非使行善者畏、乃使行惡者畏、爾欲不畏秉權者乎、惟行善、則可得其褒獎、秉權者、天主之僕也、原以益爾、爾若行惡、則誠可畏、蓋彼不徒操生殺之權、操生殺之權原文作文作操刀乃為天主之僕、嚴加刑於作惡之人、故當服之、非但畏刑之故、亦因良心使然也、爾曹納稅、亦為是故、蓋秉權者、乃天主之役、常理此事、

越至七年、耶何耶大遣人召統迦利卒、迦利卒或作護衛卒下同與奔走兵之諸百夫長至、導入主殿、與之立約、使在殿發誓、然後以王之子示之命、

我望彼行此、不但如我所望、且始已獻己於主、又竭力事我、遵天主之旨、

於是以色列諸長老至希伯崙見王、大衛王在希伯崙與之立約於主前、諸長老膏大衛立為以色列王、應主託撒母耳所言者、

耶何耶大在己與民及王之間立約、使民為主之民、

主在摩押地、諭摩西與以色列人立約、此即其約之言、此外有主在何烈與以色列人所立之約、或作此約在主與以色列人於何烈所立之約之外摩西召以色列眾告之曰、主爾之天主於爾目前、在伊及地、於法老與其諸臣及其通國所行之事、為爾所睹、即爾目所見主試之大能、試之大能原文作大試驗大異跡及大奇事、然至今日、主尚未賜爾心能明、目能見、耳能聽、歷四十年、我導爾於野、爾身之衣不毀、爾足之履不敝、餅爾不食、清酒醇醪爾不飲、使爾知耶和華乃爾之天主、爾曹至於斯地、希實本王西宏、巴珊王噩、出而與我戰、我儕擊敗之、且取其地、以給流便支派、迦得支派、及瑪拿西半支派、以為恆業、故當謹守遵行此約之言、則於凡所為無不亨通、○今日爾眾、爾諸族長、支派之牧伯、爾長老有司、及以色列眾男、爾子女妻室、與爾營中之外邦客旅、以及為爾析薪汲水者、俱立於主爾之天主前、欲爾遵主爾天主之約、即今日主發誓與爾所立者、或作欲爾遵主爾之天主今日與爾所立之約及所立之誓主今日立爾為己民、己為爾之天主、循其所許於爾、亦循其所誓於爾祖亞伯拉罕以撒雅各、此約此誓我不第與爾曹立、凡今日與我同立於主我之天主前、及今日不在此者、我與立此約此誓、

眾曰、我儕將反之、不敢取利、必遵爾言以行、我遂召祭司至、令眾發誓、必循其言而行、我遂拂胸邊衣襟曰、凡不循此言而行者、天主亦必如此拂之、使離家宅產業、使之空匱、毫無所有、會眾曰、阿們、又頌讚主、斯後民從其言、

主我之天主在何烈與我儕立約、此約主非與我祖立之、乃與我儕在此之人今日尚存者立之、
