至于那先知，或作梦的人，你们要把他处死，因为他说了叛逆的话，叛逆了那领你们出埃及地，救赎你脱离为奴之家的耶和华你们的神，要你离弃耶和华你的神吩咐你走的道路。这样你就把那恶从你们中间除掉了。

他又打碎神柱，砍下亚舍拉，把死人的骨头布满那个地方。

他们上来攻打犹大，侵入境内，掠去了王宫的一切财物，又掳去了他的众子和妻妾；除了他最小的儿子约哈斯以外，没有给他留下一个儿子。

王吩咐希勒家大祭司、副祭司和守殿门的，把所有为巴力、亚舍拉和天上的万象所制造的器皿，从耶和华殿里搬出去，在耶路撒冷城外汲沦谷的田野，把它们烧了。然后把它们的灰烬带到伯特利去。他废除了从前犹大列王所立、在犹大各城的邱坛，和耶路撒冷的周围焚香拜偶像的祭司。又废除向巴力、日、月、星辰和天上万象焚香的人。他把亚舍拉像从耶和华殿里搬走，拿到耶路撒冷外的汲沦溪去，在汲沦溪把它烧毁，磨碎成灰，把灰撒在平民的坟墓上。

总要把他杀死，你要先向他动手，然后全民才动手打死他。

众人在他面前拆毁了巴力的祭坛，他亲自打碎了坛上高高的香坛，又把亚舍拉、雕像和铸像砍碎成灰，撒在向这些偶像献过祭的人的坟上。

他拆毁了祭坛，把亚舍拉和雕刻的偶像打碎，破碎了以色列全地所有的香坛，就回耶路撒冷去了。

耶户对副官毕甲说：“把他抬起来，丢在耶斯列人拿伯的田地里，因为我还记得你我一起驾车跟随他父亲亚哈的时候，耶和华曾宣告了这些有关亚哈的话：‘昨天我实在看见了拿伯的血和他儿子们的血（这是耶和华的宣告）；我要在这块田地上报应你（这是耶和华的宣告）。’现在你要按着耶和华的话，把他抬起来丢在田里。”犹大王亚哈谢看见这一切，就沿着通往伯哈干的路逃走。耶户紧追着他，说：“还有他！”他们就在靠近以伯莲的姑珥坡把他击伤在战车上。他逃到米吉多，就死在那里。他的臣仆用车把他的尸体送到耶路撒冷，葬在大卫城他自己的坟墓，和他的祖先一同长眠。

于是众民都去到巴力庙，把庙拆毁，打碎祭坛和偶像，又在祭坛前杀了巴力的祭司玛坦。耶何耶大把看守耶和华殿的责任，交在利未支派的祭司手里；这些利未支派的祭司是大卫分派在耶和华的殿中，照着摩西的律法所记的，给耶和华献燔祭，又照着大卫所定的，欢乐歌唱。他又设立守门的看守耶和华殿的各门，无论为了什么事，不洁净的人，都不能进去。他率领百夫长、贵族、民间的官长和国民，又把王从耶和华的殿领下来，从“上门”进入王宫，拥立王坐在王位上。

偶像却必全然消逝。

又把他们所做的那牛犊拿过来，用火焚烧，磨到粉碎，撒在水面上，让以色列人喝。

“到那日（这是万军之耶和华的宣告），我必从这地除掉偶像的名号，它们不再被人记念；我也必从这地除去假先知和污秽的灵。如果有人再说预言，他的亲生父母必对他说：‘你不该活着，因为你奉耶和华的名说谎。’他说预言的时候，他的亲生父母必把他刺死。

他又污秽在欣嫩子谷的陀斐特，不许人在那里将儿女焚烧献给摩洛（“将儿女焚烧献给摩洛”直译是“使儿女经过进入火中给摩洛”）。
