王吩咐大祭司希勒家和副祭司，并把门的，将那为巴力和亚舍拉，并天上万象所造的器皿，都从耶和华殿里搬出来，在耶路撒冷外汲沦溪旁的田间烧了，把灰拿到伯特利去。从前犹大列王所立拜偶像的祭司，在犹大城邑的邱坛和耶路撒冷的周围烧香，现在王都废去，又废去向巴力和日、月、行星，并天上万象烧香的人；又从耶和华殿里将亚舍拉搬到耶路撒冷外汲沦溪边焚烧，打碎成灰，将灰撒在平民的坟上；

总要杀他；你先下手，然后众民也下手，将他治死。

众人在他面前拆毁巴力的坛，砍断坛上高高的日像，又把木偶和雕刻的像，并铸造的像打碎成灰，撒在祭偶像人的坟上，

又拆毁祭坛，把木偶和雕刻的像打碎成灰，砍断以色列遍地所有的日像，就回耶路撒冷去了。

耶户对他的军长毕甲说：“你把他抛在耶斯列人拿伯的田间。你当追想，你我一同坐车跟随他父亚哈的时候，耶和华对亚哈所说的预言，说：‘我昨日看见拿伯的血和他众子的血，我必在这块田上报应你。’这是耶和华说的，现在你要照着耶和华的话，把他抛在这田间。”犹大王亚哈谢见这光景，就从园亭之路逃跑。耶户追赶他，说：“把这人也杀在车上。”到了靠近以伯莲姑珥的坡上击伤了他。他逃到米吉多，就死在那里。他的臣仆用车将他的尸首送到耶路撒冷，葬在大卫城他自己的坟墓里，与他列祖同葬。

于是众民都到巴力庙，拆毁了庙，打碎坛和像，又在坛前将巴力的祭司玛坦杀了。耶何耶大派官看守耶和华的殿，是在祭司利未人手下。这祭司利未人是大卫分派在耶和华殿中、照摩西律法上所写的，给耶和华献燔祭，又按大卫所定的例，欢乐歌唱；且设立守门的把守耶和华殿的各门，无论为何事，不洁净的人都不准进去。又率领百夫长和贵胄，与民间的官长，并国中的众民，请王从耶和华殿下来，由上门进入王宫，立王坐在国位上。

偶像必全然废弃。

又将他们所铸的牛犊用火焚烧，磨得粉碎，撒在水面上，叫以色列人喝。

万军之耶和华说：“那日，我必从地上除灭偶像的名，不再被人记念；也必使这地不再有假先知与污秽的灵。若再有人说预言，生他的父母必对他说：‘你不得存活，因为你托耶和华的名说假预言。’生他的父母在他说预言的时候，要将他刺透。

又污秽欣嫩子谷的陀斐特，不许人在那里使儿女经火献给摩洛；
