He commanded them, saying,“ This is what you are to do: You who are in the three companies that are going on duty on the Sabbath— a third of you guarding the royal palace,

He gave them a command. He said,“ Here’s what you must do. There are five groups of you. Some of you are in the three groups that are going on duty on the Sabbath day. A third of you must guard the royal palace.

And he commanded them,“ This is the thing that you shall do: one third of you, those who come off duty on the Sabbath and guard the king’s house

Jehoiada told them,“ This is what you must do. A third of you who are on duty on the Sabbath are to guard the royal palace itself.

and commanded them,“ This is what you are to do: A third of you who come on duty on the Sabbath are to provide protection for the king’s palace.

And he commanded them, saying,“ This is the thing that you shall do: a third of you, who come in on the Sabbath and keep watch over the king’s house

Then he commanded them, saying,“ This is what you shall do: One-third of you who come on duty on the Sabbath shall be keeping watch over the king’s house,

And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do: a third part of you, that come in on the sabbath, shall be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;

and commanded them,“ This is what you are to do: a third of you who come on duty on the Sabbath are to provide protection for the king’s palace.

He ordered them,“ This is what you must do. One third of the unit that is on duty during the Sabbath will guard the royal palace.

他们的亲族，就是住在他们村庄里的，每七天就要来和他们换班。

犹大的领袖听见了这些事，就从王宫上到耶和华的殿，坐在耶和华殿里新门的入口。

利未人自三十岁及以上的都被数点；按统计，他们男丁的数目，共有三万八千人。其中有二万四千人，监管耶和华殿宇的工作；有六千人作官长和审判官；有四千人作守门的，又有四千人用大卫所做（“大卫所做”原文作“我做”）的乐器赞美耶和华。大卫把利未的儿子革顺、哥辖和米拉利的子孙，分成班次。

有一次，撒迦利亚在神面前按着班次执行祭司的职务，照祭司的惯例抽中了签，进入主的圣殿烧香。

他们要看守会幕和圣所，以及看管他们在耶和华殿里办事的亲族，亚伦的子孙。

耶和华对我说：“这门必须关闭，不可打开；任何人也不得从那里进入；因为耶和华以色列的神已经从那里进入，所以这门必须关闭。只有君王可以坐在里面，在耶和华面前吃饼；他必须从门廊进入，也必须从原路出来。”

君王要从外面经这门的门廊进入，站在门框旁边。祭司们要为他预备燔祭和平安祭。他要在门槛那里敬拜，然后出去。这门不可关闭，直到晚上。每逢安息日和月朔，国中的人民要在这门口，在耶和华面前敬拜。

又因亚述王的缘故，他把耶和华殿里为安息日而建造的廊子，和王从外边进殿的廊子，从耶和华的殿内拆除。

桌上的食物、臣仆的座位、仆人的侍候、他们的服饰、王的酒政和王在耶和华的殿献上的燔祭，就惊奇得不知所措。

大卫和以利亚撒的子孙撒督，以及以他玛的子孙亚希米勒，把他们的亲族分开班次，按着他们的职责服事。后来发现以利亚撒的子孙中，比以他玛的子孙有更多作首领的，就把他们分开班次；以利亚撒子孙中作首领的，按着他们的家族有十六人；以他玛子孙中作首领的，按着他们的家族有八人。以抽签的方式平均地把他们分开，因为在以利亚撒的子孙中和以他玛的子孙中都有人在圣所作领袖，以及在神面前作领袖。作书记的利未人拿坦业的儿子示玛雅，在君王、领袖、撒督祭司、亚比亚他的儿子亚希米勒，以及众祭司家族和利未家族的首领面前，把他们的名字记录下来。在以利亚撒的子孙中，有一家族被选取了；在以他玛的子孙中，也有一家族被选取了。

他又率领众百夫长、迦利人、卫兵和当地所有的人民，护送王从耶和华的殿下来，经卫兵的门进入王宫。这样，约阿施就坐上了王位。
