Menahem exacted this money from Israel. Every wealthy person had to contribute fifty shekels of silver to be given to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria withdrew and stayed in the land no longer.

當以色列王比加在位的日子、亞述王提革拉毘列色來奪取以雲、亞伯伯瑪迦、亞挪、基低斯、夏瑣、基列、加利利、和拿弗他利全地；使這些地方的居民都流亡到亞述去。

他的牲畜有羊七千隻、駱駝三千隻，牛五百對、母驢五百匹；他還有很多僕婢；這人在東方人之中至為昌大。

巴西萊非常老邁，已經八十歲。王住在瑪哈念的時候，是他供養王的：因為他是個極大的財主。

猶大王希西家差遣人到拉吉去見亞述王說：『我有罪了；求你離開我而回去；凡你所加於我的處罰、我都要承當。』於是亞述王勒令猶大王希西家要納銀子三百擔，金子三十擔。希西家就把永恆主殿裏和王宮府庫裏所有的銀子都交出。那時猶大王希西家將永恆主殿堂門上的金子、和他自己包在門柱上的金子都刮下來、給了亞述王。亞述王從拉吉差遣大元帥、總務長、參謀長到希西家王那裏，隨帶着重兵到耶路撒冷。他們上來、到了耶路撒冷；既已上來，就來站在上池的水溝旁、在漂布地的大路上。

亞述王撒縵以色上來攻擊何細亞，何細亞就臣服他，給他進貢。何細亞反叛了，差遣使者去見埃及王西威、卻不照年年所行的、給亞述王獻上貢物；亞述王發覺了，就捉拿他，鎖禁在監獄裏。

銀子金子約雅敬倒是給了法老了、不過是照法老所吩咐的向猶大地徵取，叫人給銀子的：他按着各人、被估定的稅額向猶大地人民徵討金銀去給法老尼哥。
