“‘ Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses— if you can put riders on them!

“ I’ll tell you what! Strike a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria. I will give you 2,000 horses if you can find that many men to ride on them!

“现在你可以与我主亚述王下一个赌注：你那边如果能给出相应的骑士，我就给你两千匹马；如果不能，你怎能击退我主的臣仆中至小的一个军官呢？你竟敢依靠埃及的战车和马兵！

因为亚述王说：“这是我以自己手的能力和自己的智慧所做的，因为我很聪明——我挪移了列国的地界，抢掠了他们的财宝，又像一个壮士使他们的居民臣服。我的手找到列国的财富，如同找到鸟巢；我收取全地，好像收取遗弃的鸟蛋；没有一个扇翅膀的，没有一个张嘴的，也没有一个啼叫的。”

那非利士人观望，看见大卫，就轻视他，因为他还是个少年，面色红润、容貌俊美。

然后那非利士人对大卫说：“过来吧！我要把你的肉给天空的飞鸟和田野的走兽。”
