看哪，亚述是黎巴嫩的香柏树，枝条荣美，荫密如林，极其高大，树顶高耸入云。众水使它生长，深水使它长高；所栽之地有江河环绕，汊出的水道流至田野的树木。所以它高大超过田野的树木；生长时因水源丰沛，枝子繁多，枝条增长。空中所有的飞鸟在枝子上搭窝，野地所有的走兽在枝条下生子，所有的大国也在它的荫下居住。它树大枝长，极为荣美，因它的根在众水之旁。神园中的香柏树不能遮蔽它；松树不及它的枝子，枫树不及它的枝条，神园中的树都没有它荣美。我使它枝条繁多，极为荣美；在神的园中，伊甸所有的树都嫉妒它。”所以主耶和华如此说：“因它高大，树顶高耸入云，心高气傲，

因为耶和华至高者是可畏的，他是治理全地的大君王。

你要说，主耶和华如此说：埃及王法老，你这卧在自己江河中的海怪，看哪，我与你为敌。你曾说：‘我的尼罗河是我的，是我为自己造的。’

我听见好像一大群人的声音，像众水的声音，像大雷的声音，说：“哈利路亚！因为主—我们的神、全能者，作王了。

亚述王的臣仆用犹大话向耶路撒冷城墙上的百姓大声呼喊，要恐吓他们，扰乱他们，以便取城。

于是亚述将军站着，用犹大话大声喊着说：“你们当听大王亚述王的话，王如此说：‘你们不要被希西家欺哄了，因他不能拯救你们。不要听凭希西家说服你们倚靠耶和华，他说，耶和华必要拯救我们，这城必不交在亚述王的手中。’你们不要听希西家的话！因亚述王如此说：‘你们要与我讲和，出来投降，各人就可以吃自己葡萄树和无花果树的果子，喝自己井里的水，等我来领你们到一个地方，与你们本地一样，就是有五谷和新酒之地，有粮食和葡萄园之地。恐怕希西家误导你们说，耶和华必拯救我们。列国的神明有哪一个曾救它本国脱离亚述王的手呢？
