Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder went to Hezekiah, with their clothes torn, and told him what the field commander had said.

Then Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, went to Hezekiah. Eliakim was in charge of the palace. Shebna the secretary went with him. So did Joah, the son of Asaph. Joah kept the records. All of them went to Hezekiah with their clothes torn. They told him what the field commander had said.

王和他所有聽見這一切話的臣僕，都不驚懼，也不撕裂衣服。

於是約伯起來，撕裂外袍，剃了頭，俯伏在地上敬拜，

大祭司就撕開衣服，說：“他說了褻瀆的話，我們還要甚麼證人呢？你們現在聽見了這褻瀆的話，

以色列王讀了這信後，就撕裂自己的衣服，說：“我是神，能使人死使人活嗎？這人竟派人到我這裡來，要我治好他的痲風。請你們想想看，他是要找機會攻擊我。”

你聽見我攻擊這地方和它的居民的話，就是他們要成為荒涼，受咒詛，你的心就順服，在我面前謙卑，又撕裂自己的衣服，在我面前哀哭，我已經聽到了。這是耶和華的宣告。

眾人都默不作聲，一句話也沒有回答他，因為王的吩咐說：“不要回答他。”於是希勒家的兒子管家以利亞敬、書記舍伯那和亞薩的兒子史官約亞，都撕裂衣服，來到希西家面前，把拉伯沙基的話告訴了他。
