Now when the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho saw him opposite them, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said,“ The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha.” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

The group of prophets from Jericho were watching. They said,“ The spirit of Elijah has been given to Elisha.” They went over to Elisha. They bowed down to him with their faces toward the ground.

When the group of prophets from Jericho saw from a distance what happened, they exclaimed,“ Elijah’s spirit rests upon Elisha!” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

When the sons of the prophets from Jericho who were observing saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him and bowed down to the ground in front of him.

Now when the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho opposite him saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah has settled on Elisha.” And they came to meet him and bowed down to the ground before him.

Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.

And when the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho over against him saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

When the sons of the prophets from Jericho who were facing him saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him and bowed down to the ground in front of him.

And when the sons of the prophets which[ were] to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

When the members of the prophetic guild in Jericho, who were standing at a distance, saw him do this, they said,“ The spirit that energized Elijah rests upon Elisha.” They went to meet him and bowed down to the ground before him.

When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho facing him saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

“ But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.

“ And as for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord:“ My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children’s offspring,” says the Lord,“ from this time forth and forevermore.”

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha,“ Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord, but the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.”And Elisha said to her,“ What shall I do for you? Tell me; what have you in the house?” And she said,“ Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.”Then he said,“ Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few.Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these vessels. And when one is full, set it aside.”

She came and fell at his feet, bowing to the ground. Then she picked up her son and went out.

Fifty men of the sons of the prophets also went and stood at some distance from them, as they both were standing by the Jordan.

Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha,“ See, the place where we dwell under your charge is too small for us.Let us go to the Jordan and each of us get there a log, and let us make a place for us to dwell there.” And he answered,“ Go.”Then one of them said,“ Be pleased to go with your servants.” And he answered,“ I will go.”So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees.But as one was felling a log, his axe head fell into the water, and he cried out,“ Alas, my master! It was borrowed.”Then the man of God said,“ Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, he cut off a stick and threw it in there and made the iron float.And he said,“ Take it up.” So he reached out his hand and took it.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

The Lord said to Joshua,“ Today I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.

You shall invest him with some of your authority, that all the congregation of the people of Israel may obey.

But he said to me,“ My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to him, and took some of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. And as soon as the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied. But they did not continue doing it.Now two men remained in the camp, one named Eldad, and the other named Medad, and the Spirit rested on them. They were among those registered, but they had not gone out to the tent, and so they prophesied in the camp.And a young man ran and told Moses,“ Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”And Joshua the son of Nun, the assistant of Moses from his youth, said,“ My lord Moses, stop them.”But Moses said to him,“ Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the Lord’s people were prophets, that the Lord would put his Spirit on them!”

On that day the Lord exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel, and they stood in awe of him just as they had stood in awe of Moses, all the days of his life.

Now the men of the city said to Elisha,“ Behold, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees, but the water is bad, and the land is unfruitful.”
