Now he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the road, some young boys came out from the city and ridiculed him and said to him,“ Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!”

And he went up from thence unto Beth- el; and as he was going up by the way, there came forth young lads out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou baldhead; go up, thou baldhead.

So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless. (niv)

Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. (niv)

Woe to the sinful nation, a people whose guilt is great, a brood of evildoers, children given to corruption! They have forsaken the Lord; they have spurned the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him. (niv)

Even small children are known by their actions, so is their conduct really pure and upright? (niv)

So will it happen to you, Bethel, because your wickedness is great. When that day dawns, the king of Israel will be completely destroyed. (niv)

People will oppress each other— man against man, neighbor against neighbor. The young will rise up against the old, the nobody against the honored. (niv)

and saying,“ You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!”In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him.“ He saved others,” they said,“ but he can’t save himself!
