Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked,“ What did those men say, and where did they come from?”“ From a distant land,” Hezekiah replied.“ They came from Babylon.”

Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah. He asked him,“ What did those men say? Where did they come from?”“ They came from a land far away,” Hezekiah said.“ They came from Babylon.”

Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him,“ What did these men say? And from where did they come to you?” And Hezekiah said,“ They have come from a far country, from Babylon.”

Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked him,“ What did those men want? Where were they from?” Hezekiah replied,“ They came from the distant land of Babylon.”

Then the prophet Isaiah came to King Hezekiah and asked him,“ Where did these men come from and what did they say to you?” Hezekiah replied,“ They came from a distant country, from Babylon.”

Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him,“ What did these men say, and from where have they come to you?” And Hezekiah said,“ They have come from a far country, from Babylon.”

Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah, and said to him,“ What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?” So Hezekiah said,“ They came from a far country, from Babylon.”

Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.

Then the prophet Isaiah came to King Hezekiah and asked him,“ Where did these men come from and what did they say to you?” Hezekiah replied,“ They came from a distant country, from Babylon.”

Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country,[ even] from Babylon.

Isaiah the prophet visited King Hezekiah and asked him,“ What did these men say? Where do they come from?” Hezekiah replied,“ They come from the distant land of Babylon.”

Then Isaiah the prophet came to king Hezekiah, and said to him,“ What did these men say? From where did they come to you?” Hezekiah said,“ They have come from a far country, even from Babylon.”

Then they went to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal and said to him and the Israelites,“ We have come from a distant country; make a treaty with us.” (niv)

Then Amaziah said to Amos,“ Get out, you seer! Go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there and do your prophesying there.Don’t prophesy anymore at Bethel, because this is the king’s sanctuary and the temple of the kingdom.” (niv)

Let a righteous man strike me— that is a kindness; let him rebuke me— that is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it, for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers. (niv)

But a man of God came to him and said,“ Your Majesty, these troops from Israel must not march with you, for the Lord is not with Israel— not with any of the people of Ephraim.Even if you go and fight courageously in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has the power to help or to overthrow.”Amaziah asked the man of God,“ But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?” The man of God replied,“ The Lord can give you much more than that.” (niv)

The anger of the Lord burned against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him, who said,“ Why do you consult this people’s gods, which could not save their own people from your hand?”While he was still speaking, the king said to him,“ Have we appointed you an adviser to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?” So the prophet stopped but said,“ I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.” (niv)

Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear. (niv)

They answered:“ Your servants have come from a very distant country because of the fame of the Lord your God. For we have heard reports of him: all that he did in Egypt, (niv)

At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him:“ Because you relied on the king of Aram and not on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand.Were not the Cushites and Libyans a mighty army with great numbers of chariots and horsemen? Yet when you relied on the Lord, he delivered them into your hand.For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.”Asa was angry with the seer because of this; he was so enraged that he put him in prison. At the same time Asa brutally oppressed some of the people. (niv)

For John had been saying to Herod,“ It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”So Herodias nursed a grudge against John and wanted to kill him. But she was not able to, (niv)

They come from faraway lands, from the ends of the heavens— the Lord and the weapons of his wrath— to destroy the whole country. (niv)

Then Nathan said to David,“ You are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:‘ I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity on you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight.You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.’”Then David said to Nathan,“ I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied,“ The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.But because by doing this you have shown utter contempt for the Lord, the son born to you will die.”After Nathan had gone home, the Lord struck the child that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and he became ill. “ Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. He told all the people of Judah,‘ This is what the Lord Almighty says:“‘ Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.’“ Did Hezekiah king of Judah or anyone else in Judah put him to death? Did not Hezekiah fear the Lord and seek his favor? And did not the Lord relent, so that he did not bring the disaster he pronounced against them? We are about to bring a terrible disaster on ourselves!” (niv)

Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked,“ What did those men say, and where did they come from?”“ From a distant land,” Hezekiah replied.“ They came to me from Babylon.”The prophet asked,“ What did they see in your palace?”“ They saw everything in my palace,” Hezekiah said.“ There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah,“ Hear the word of the Lord Almighty:The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your predecessors have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the Lord.And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood who will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”“ The word of the Lord you have spoken is good,” Hezekiah replied. For he thought,“ There will be peace and security in my lifetime.” (niv)

When he went in and stood before his master, Elisha asked him,“ Where have you been, Gehazi?”“ Your servant didn’t go anywhere,” Gehazi answered.But Elisha said to him,“ Was not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to take money or to accept clothes— or olive groves and vineyards, or flocks and herds, or male and female slaves? (niv)

The Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the ends of the earth, like an eagle swooping down, a nation whose language you will not understand, (niv)
