Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people— that they would become a curse and be laid waste— and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I also have heard you, declares the Lord.

“ Your heart was tender. You made yourself humble in the eyes of the Lord. You heard what I spoke against this place and its people. I said they would be under a curse. I told them they would be destroyed. You tore your royal robes and wept in front of me. And I have heard you,” announces the Lord.

你們的可憎惡行令耶和華忍無可忍，以致祂使你們的土地一片荒涼，無人居住，被人咒詛，正如今天的情形。

摩西和亞倫便進宮去見法老，對他說：「希伯來人的上帝耶和華說，『你要到什麼時候才肯在我面前謙卑下來，讓我的子民離開這裡去事奉我？

事後，大衛心裡不安，

世人啊，耶和華已經指示你們何為良善。祂向你們所要的是什麼呢？是要你們行公義，好憐憫，謙卑地與你們的上帝同行。

你們年輕的要順服年長的，大家都要存謙卑的心彼此服侍。因為上帝阻擋驕傲的人，恩待謙卑的人。所以你們要在上帝大能的手下謙卑，時候到了，祂必擢升你們。

他的禱告，上帝的答覆，他在謙卑下來之前的罪惡和不忠，他在哪裡修築邱壇以及設立亞舍拉神像和其他偶像的事，都記在《先知書》上。

真希望我的頭是水泉，眼是淚泉，好為我被殺的同胞晝夜哭泣；

「回去告訴我子民的首領希西迦，『你祖先大衛的上帝耶和華說，我已聽見你的禱告，看見了你的眼淚。我要醫治你，三天後你就可以上耶和華的殿。

還是你藐視祂深厚的慈愛、寬容和忍耐，不知道祂的慈愛是要引導你悔改嗎？你這樣硬著心不肯悔改等於是為自己積蓄烈怒，上帝的烈怒在祂施行公義審判的那天必臨到你。

但上帝賜給我們更大的恩典，所以聖經上說：「上帝阻擋驕傲的人，恩待謙卑的人。」因此，你們要服從上帝，抵擋魔鬼，魔鬼必逃離你們。你們親近上帝，上帝就必親近你們。有罪的人啊，洗淨你們的手吧！三心二意的人啊，潔淨你們的心吧！你們要悲傷、憂愁、痛哭，轉歡笑為悲哀，變歡樂為愁苦。你們要在主面前謙卑，祂必擢升你們。

論到猶大王約雅敬，你要這樣寫，『耶和華說，你把卷軸燒掉，還說為什麼上面寫著巴比倫王必來毀滅這地方和其中的人畜。所以耶和華說，猶大王約雅敬啊，你的子孫沒有一人能登大衛的寶座，你的屍體必被棄之荒野，遭受烈日的暴曬和夜霜的侵襲。我要因你、你後裔和你臣僕的罪惡而懲罰你們。因為你們不聽我的警告，我要給你們以及耶路撒冷和猶大的居民降下我說過的災禍。』」於是，耶利米又拿了一個卷軸，交給尼利亞的兒子書記巴錄，他按耶利米的口述，把猶大王約雅敬燒毀的那卷軸上的話都記下來，還增添了許多類似的話。

我一聽見這消息，就坐下痛哭，悲傷了好幾天。我在天上的上帝面前禁食禱告，說：

在困苦中，瑪拿西祈求他的上帝耶和華的幫助，並且在他祖先的上帝面前極其謙卑。

亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞派人告訴希西迦：「以色列的上帝耶和華說，『我已經聽見你關於亞述王西拿基立的禱告。

耶穌快到耶路撒冷時，看見那城就哀哭，

我心裡極為憂愁，痛苦不止！為了我的弟兄——我的同胞以色列人，即使我自己被咒詛、與基督隔絕，我也願意！

對他說：「你去走遍耶路撒冷，在那些因城中可憎之事而歎息哀傷的人額上畫個記號。」

摩西和以色列全體會眾正在會幕門口痛哭的時候，有個以色列人當著他們的面把一個米甸女子帶進自家的帳篷。

以斯拉禱告、認罪、哭泣、俯伏在上帝的殿前時，一大群以色列人，包括男女和孩子，都聚集到他那裡，與他一起痛哭。

我淚流成河，因為人們不遵行你的律法。

我因敬畏你而戰抖，我懼怕你的法令。

以色列人聽了耶和華的天使說的話，就放聲大哭，他們稱那地方為波金，在那裡向耶和華獻祭。

「耶利米，你要對他們說，『讓我晝夜淚眼汪汪吧，因為我的同胞遭受重創，遍體鱗傷。

一切都是我親手創造的。這是耶和華說的。我看顧謙卑、悔過、對我的話心存敬畏的人。

王聽了律法書上的話，就撕裂衣服，

以色列全軍來到伯特利，坐在耶和華面前哀哭，那天他們一直禁食到晚上，又在耶和華面前獻上燔祭和平安祭。

如果你們因為驕傲而不肯聽，我會暗自哭泣、淚流滿面，因為耶和華的子民將要被擄。

一聽到這些，我便撕裂衣服和外袍，拔掉頭髮和鬍鬚，驚懼地坐下。聽了以色列上帝的話而戰抖的人都聚集在我周圍，因為流亡歸來的人不忠。我驚懼地坐在那裡，直到獻晚祭的時候。

對耶和華的話心存敬畏的人啊，要聽祂的話：「你們的弟兄憎恨你們，因為我的緣故而棄絕你們，他們譏諷說，『願耶和華得榮耀，我們好看看你們的歡樂！』他們必受羞辱。

你們這些冥頑不靈、遠離公義的人啊，聽我說。

遍地將是硫磺和鹽，無法耕種，寸草不生，如同耶和華盛怒之下毀滅的所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪和洗扁。

全體民眾聽到律法書上的話都哭了。尼希米省長、律法教師以斯拉祭司和教導民眾的利未人對他們說：「今天是你們上帝耶和華的聖日，不要悲哀、哭泣。」

「如果他們承認自己和祖先的罪，就是背叛我、與我作對的惡行——以致我與他們作對，把他們流放到敵國；如果他們頑固的心謙卑下來，甘願接受刑罰，

可是，亞們沒有像他父親瑪拿西一樣在耶和華面前謙卑下來。相反，他犯的罪日益增加。
