But Jehoshaphat said,[ Is there] not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Here[ is] Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

约沙法说：“这里不是有一位耶和华的先知吗？我们可以托他求问耶和华。”以色列王的一位臣仆说：“这里有沙法的儿子以利沙，他从前是服事以利亚的（“他从前是服事以利亚的”原文作“他从前倒水在以利亚手上”）。”

But Jehoshaphat asked,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?” An officer of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat asked,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the Lord here? Can’t we ask the Lord for advice through him?” An officer of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha is here. He’s the son of Shaphat. Elisha used to serve Elijah.”

And Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?” Then one of the king of Israel’s servants answered,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”

But King Jehoshaphat of Judah asked,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord with us? If there is, we can ask the Lord what to do through him.” One of King Joram’s officers replied,“ Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to be Elijah’s personal assistant.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the LORD here? Let’s inquire of the LORD through him.” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat, who used to pour water on Elijah’s hands, is here.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” So one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”

But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah, that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of the Lord here? Let’s inquire of Yahweh through him.” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shaphat, who used to pour water on Elijah’s hands, is here.”

Jehoshaphat asked,“ Is there no prophet of the LORD here that we might seek the LORD’s direction?” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered,“ Elisha son of Shapat is here; he used to be Elijah’s servant.”

But Jehoshaphat said,“ Isn’t there a prophet of Yahweh here, that we may inquire of Yahweh by him?” One of the king of Israel’s servants answered,“ Elisha the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah, is here.”

And Jehoshaphat said,[ Is there] not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?

And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.

Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for[ so] I am.If I then,[ your] Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.

He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe[ them] with the towel wherewith he was girded.

For because ye[ did it] not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD,[ even] against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking[ counsel] of[ one that had] a familiar spirit, to enquire[ of it];

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto the house of God, and wept, and sat there before the LORD, and fasted that day until even, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.And the children of Israel enquired of the LORD,( for the ark of the covenant of God[ was] there in those days,And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days,) saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And the LORD said, Go up; for tomorrow I will deliver them into thine hand.

But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

And all the people arose as one man, saying, We will not any[ of us] go to his tent, neither will we any[ of us] turn into his house.But now this[ shall be] the thing which we will do to Gibeah;[ we will go up] by lot against it;And we will take ten men of an hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and an hundred of a thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to fetch victual for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have wrought in Israel.So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.

And the men took of their victuals, and asked not[ counsel] at the mouth of the LORD.

Nevertheless he cleaved unto the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the LORD said, Judah[ shall go up] first.

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

But ye[ shall] not[ be] so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.For whether[ is] greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth?[ is] not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.

Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:

We see not our signs:[ there is] no more any prophet: neither[ is there] among us any that knoweth how long.

Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

( And the children of Israel went up and wept before the LORD until even, and asked counsel of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother? And the LORD said, Go up against him.)
