因此我要為摩押哀號，為全摩押喊叫，為吉珥．哈列設人（“為吉珥‧哈列設人”有古抄本作“他為吉珥‧哈列設人”）唉哼。

因此，我的心腸為摩押哀鳴，有如琴瑟；我的肺腑也為吉珥．哈列設哀哭。

於是有一大班人集合起來，堵塞了一切泉源和流通那地的溪流，他們說：“為甚麼要讓亞述王得著充沛的水源呢？”

他父親亞伯拉罕在世的時候，僕人所挖的水井，在亞伯拉罕死後都被非利士人塞住了。以撒重新挖掘這些井，仍然照著他父親所起的名字叫它們。

耶和華說：‘難道你沒有聽見古時我所安排，往昔所計劃的嗎？現在我才使它成就，使堅固的城鎮荒廢，變作亂堆。因此，其中的居民軟弱無力，驚惶羞愧，像田間的蔬菜和青綠的草，又像房頂上的草，還沒有長起來，就乾焦了。

他父親亞伯拉罕在世的時候，所有由他父親僕人挖的井，非利士人都塞住了，填滿了土。

耶和華對我說：‘你不可敵視摩押人，也不可與他們爭戰；他們的地我不賜給你作產業，因為我已經把亞珥賜給了羅得的子孫作產業。

“如果你圍困一座城，很久才能攻取佔領它，你就不可揮斧破壞那裡的樹木；因為你可以吃樹上的果子，卻不可以砍伐樹木。難道田間的樹木是人，可以被你圍困的嗎？只有你知道不結果子的樹木，你才可以毀壞砍伐，用來建造圍城的設備，攻擊那與你作戰的城，直到把它攻下為止。”

他又擊敗摩押人，使他們躺在地上，用繩子量他們，把量兩繩的殺死，讓量一繩的存活。這樣，摩押人就臣服大衛，給他進貢。

關於摩押的默示：一夜之間，摩押的亞珥受到蹂躪，就滅亡了！一夜之間，摩押的基珥受到蹂躪，也滅亡了！

那一天，亞比米勒整天攻打那城，把城攻下了，殺了城中的眾人；把城拆毀，又撒上鹽。
