The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha,“ Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”

The wife of a man from the group of the prophets cried out to Elisha. She said,“ My husband is dead. You know how much respect he had for the Lord. But he owed money to someone. And now that person is coming to take my two boys away. They will become his slaves.”

Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha,“ Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord, but the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.”

One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out,“ My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the Lord. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.”

One of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha,“ Your servant, my husband, has died. You know that your servant feared the LORD. Now the creditor is coming to take my two children as his slaves.”

Now a woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying,“ Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord; and the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.”

A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying,“ Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear Jehovah: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two children to be bondmen.

One of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha,“ Your servant, my husband, has died. You know that your servant feared the Lord. Now the creditor is coming to take my two children as his slaves.”

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

Now a wife of one of the prophets appealed to Elisha for help, saying,“ Your servant, my husband is dead. You know that your servant was a loyal follower of the LORD. Now the creditor is coming to take away my two boys to be his servants.”

Now a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying,“ Your servant my husband is dead. You know that your servant feared Yahweh. Now the creditor has come to take for himself my two children to be slaves.”

The company of the prophets at Bethel came out to Elisha and asked,“ Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?”“ Yes, I know,” Elisha replied,“ so be quiet.” (niv)

Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. (niv)

“‘ If any of your fellow Israelites become poor and sell themselves to you, do not make them work as slaves.They are to be treated as hired workers or temporary residents among you; they are to work for you until the Year of Jubilee.Then they and their children are to be released, and they will go back to their own clans and to the property of their ancestors. (niv)

Some were saying,“ We and our sons and daughters are numerous; in order for us to eat and stay alive, we must get grain.”Others were saying,“ We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards and our homes to get grain during the famine.”Still others were saying,“ We have had to borrow money to pay the king’s tax on our fields and vineyards.Although we are of the same flesh and blood as our fellow Jews and though our children are as good as theirs, yet we have to subject our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters have already been enslaved, but we are powerless, because our fields and our vineyards belong to others.” (niv)

Then a voice came from the throne, saying:“ Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!” (niv)

But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— (niv)

Elisha returned to Gilgal and there was a famine in that region. While the company of the prophets was meeting with him, he said to his servant,“ Put on the large pot and cook some stew for these prophets.” (niv)

“ When the neighboring peoples bring merchandise or grain to sell on the Sabbath, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on any holy day. Every seventh year we will forgo working the land and will cancel all debts. (niv)

because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment. (niv)

‘ Every seventh year each of you must free any fellow Hebrews who have sold themselves to you. After they have served you six years, you must let them go free.’ Your ancestors, however, did not listen to me or pay attention to me. (niv)

and Ahab had summoned Obadiah, his palace administrator.( Obadiah was a devout believer in the Lord. (niv)

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. (niv)

Although a wicked person who commits a hundred crimes may live a long time, I know that it will go better with those who fear God, who are reverent before him. (niv)

“ This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.” (niv)

he will bless those who fear the Lord— small and great alike. (niv)

the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. (niv)

All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him. (niv)

By the word of the Lord one of the company of the prophets said to his companion,“ Strike me with your weapon,” but he refused. (niv)

I put in charge of Jerusalem my brother Hanani, along with Hananiah the commander of the citadel, because he was a man of integrity and feared God more than most people do. (niv)

Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.” (niv)

Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. (niv)

“ Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said.“ Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” (niv)

The company of the prophets at Jericho went up to Elisha and asked him,“ Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?”“ Yes, I know,” he replied,“ so be quiet.” (niv)

they retain the right of redemption after they have sold themselves. One of their relatives may redeem them: (niv)

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; (niv)

But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well- fed calves. (niv)

“ But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. (niv)

Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name. (niv)

“ Fellow children of Abraham and you God- fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. (niv)
