Elisha said to him,“ Tell her,‘ You have gone to all this trouble for us. Now what can be done for you? Can we speak on your behalf to the king or the commander of the army?’” She replied,“ I have a home among my own people.”

He said to Gehazi,“ Tell her,‘ You have gone to a lot of trouble for us. Now what can we do for you? Can we speak to the king for you? Or can we speak to the commander of the army for you?’ ” She replied,“ I live among my own people. I have everything I need here.”

And he said to him,“ Say now to her,‘ See, you have taken all this trouble for us; what is to be done for you? Would you have a word spoken on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’” She answered,“ I dwell among my own people.”

Elisha said to Gehazi,“ Tell her,‘ We appreciate the kind concern you have shown us. What can we do for you? Can we put in a good word for you to the king or to the commander of the army?’”“ No,” she replied,“ my family takes good care of me.”

Then he said to Gehazi,“ Say to her,‘ Look, you’ve gone to all this trouble for us. What can we do for you? Can we speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’” She answered,“ I am living among my own people.”

“ The one who receives you receives Me, and the one who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.The one who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and the one who receives a righteous person in the name of a righteous person shall receive a righteous person’s reward.And whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”

The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains;but when he was in Rome, he eagerly searched for me and found me—the Lord grant to him to find mercy from the Lord on that day— and you know very well what services he rendered at Ephesus.

But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it, either.If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content.

So why should the king compensate me with this reward?Please let your servant return, so that I may die in my own city near the grave of my father and my mother. However, here is your servant Chimham; let him cross over with my lord the king, and do for him what is good in your sight.”And the king answered,“ Chimham shall cross over with me, and I will do for him what is good in your sight; and whatever you require of me, I will do for you.”

But now bring me a musician.” And it came about, when the musician played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.And he said,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Make this valley full of trenches.’For the Lord says this:‘ You will not see wind, nor will you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you will drink, you, your livestock, and your other animals.And this is an insignificant thing in the sight of the Lord; He will also give the Moabites into your hand.

And He said to them,“ Take nothing for your journey, neither a staff, nor a bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not even have two tunics.And whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that city.And as for all who do not receive you, when you leave that city, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

So they entered the land of Moab and remained there.Then Elimelech, Naomi’s husband, died; and she was left with her two sons.And they took for themselves Moabite women as wives; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other, Ruth. And they lived there about ten years.

Then at the end of seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines; and she went to appeal to the king for her house and for her field.Now the king was speaking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying,“ Please report to me all the great things that Elisha has done.”And as he was reporting to the king how he had restored to life the one who was dead, behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life appealed to the king for her house and for her field. And Gehazi said,“ My lord the king, this is the woman and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.”When the king asked the woman, she told everything to him. So the king appointed an officer for her, saying,“ Restore all that was hers and all the produce of the field from the day that she left the land even until now.”

The Lord will return his blood on his own head, because he struck two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword, while my father David did not know about it: Abner the son of Ner, commander of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, commander of the army of Judah.
