When the king of Israel saw them, he asked Elisha,“ Shall I kill them, my father? Shall I kill them?”

The king of Israel saw them. So he asked Elisha,“ Should I kill them? I need your advice. You are like a father to me. Should I kill them?”

As soon as the king of Israel saw them, he said to Elisha,“ My father, shall I strike them down? Shall I strike them down?”

When the king of Israel saw them, he shouted to Elisha,“ My father, should I kill them? Should I kill them?”

Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a gift forty camel-loads of all the finest wares of Damascus. He went in and stood before him, and said,“ Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to ask,‘ Will I recover from this illness?’” (niv)

Elisha saw this and cried out,“ My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore it in two. (niv)

Now Elisha had been suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him.“ My father! My father!” he cried.“ The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” (niv)

When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said,“ Lord, should we strike with our swords?” (niv)

When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked,“ Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?”But Jesus turned and rebuked them.Then he and his disciples went to another village. (niv)

The men said,“ This is the day the Lord spoke of when he said to you,‘ I will give your enemy into your hands for you to deal with as you wish.’” Then David crept up unnoticed and cut off a corner of Saul’s robe. (niv)

Abishai said to David,“ Today God has delivered your enemy into your hands. Now let me pin him to the ground with one thrust of the spear; I won’t strike him twice.” (niv)
