There was a great famine in the city; the siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a quarter of a cab of seed pods for five shekels.

There wasn’t enough food anywhere in the city. It was surrounded for so long that people had to weigh out two pounds of silver for a donkey’s head. They had to weigh out two ounces of silver for half a pint of seed pods.

And there was a great famine in Samaria, as they besieged it, until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five shekels of silver.

As a result, there was a great famine in the city. The siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty pieces of silver, and a cup of dove’s dung sold for five pieces of silver.

So there was a severe famine in Samaria, and they continued the siege against it until a donkey’s head sold for thirty-four ounces of silver, and a cup of dove’s dung sold for two ounces of silver.

看啊，敵人已經修築高臺要攻打這城，這城要因戰爭、饑荒和瘟疫而落入迦勒底人手中。你所說的都應驗了，你也看見了。

你有什麼難處呢？」婦人說：「這個女人對我說，『我們今天吃你兒子，明天再吃我兒子。』於是我們把我兒子煮了吃。第二天我叫她把她兒子交出來，她卻把兒子藏了起來。」

我說：「主耶和華啊！眾先知不停地告訴他們不會有戰爭，也不會遭遇饑荒，說耶和華必在這地方賜給他們永久的平安。」耶和華對我說：「那些先知奉我的名說假預言，我並沒有差派他們，沒有委任他們，也沒有對他們說話。他們對你們說的預言是假異象，是占卜，是憑空捏造。我沒有差派他們，他們卻奉我的名說這地方必沒有戰爭和饑荒。他們必死於戰爭和饑荒。這是耶和華說的。

那年四月九日，城裡饑荒非常嚴重，百姓無糧可吃。

如果我們進城，城裡正鬧饑荒，我們會餓死；但我們坐在這裡也是死，不如去投靠亞蘭軍。如果他們不殺我們，我們就能活命；如若不然，死就死吧！」

我要斷絕你們的糧源。那時候，十個婦女將用一個烤爐烤餅，按定量分餅給你們，你們吃卻吃不飽。

那年四月九日，城裡饑荒非常嚴重，百姓無糧可吃。

耶和華說：「我把以色列人驅逐到各國的時候，他們也要這樣吃不潔淨的食物。」我說：「唉，主耶和華啊！我從來沒有玷污過自己，我自幼至今從未吃過自然死去的或被野獸撕碎的動物，不潔淨的肉從未入過我的口。」於是祂對我說：「好吧，我容許你用牛糞代替人糞來烤餅。」又說：「人子啊，我要斷絕耶路撒冷的糧源，叫他們焦慮地吃限量的餅，恐懼地喝限量的水。

以利亞就去見亞哈。當時，撒瑪利亞正遭受嚴重的饑荒。
