我们为何静坐不动呢？我们当聚集，进入坚固城，在那里静默不言；因为耶和华—我们的上帝使我们静默不言，又将苦水给我们喝，都因我们得罪了耶和华。

那时王正与神人的仆人基哈西谈话，说：“你把以利沙所做的一切大事告诉我。”

“患有麻风灾病的人，他的衣服要撕裂，也要蓬头散发，遮住上唇，喊着说：‘不洁净！不洁净！’灾病还在他身上的时候，他就是不洁净的；既然不洁净，他就要独居，住在营外。”

我们若说要进城去，城里有饥荒，我们必死在那里。若我们在这里坐着不动，也必死。现在，来吧，我们去向亚兰人的军队投降。若他们饶我们的命，我们就活着；若杀我们，我们就死吧！”

亚兰王的元帅乃缦在他主人面前是一个伟大的人，得王的喜悦，因为耶和华曾藉他使亚兰人得胜。他虽然是大能的勇士，却染上了麻风。

你和你的百姓何必因刀剑、饥荒、瘟疫而死亡，像耶和华所论不肯服事巴比伦王的国家呢？
